I'm sure the usual suspects will come on here and tell me how great the rain is, but from where I'm sitting it sure does smell like **** to me.

If this is what we have to look at with three types of new aircraft coming onboard, a "TA that will generate hiring", and a hugely profitable airline comfortably done merging in an industry that has finally rationalized down to 4ish like everyone said would be so good for the industry...

Yep.

Record profits and bringing on some new, not all replacement airframes (so they say..) and we get 600+displacements.

This bid has so much shuffling around in it that it is almost impossible to tell where people are going to go.

The relative positions in various categories will likely look a lot different than they currently do for the bottom of the list.

The most difficult thing for me to see is how many of the published displacements are going to be offset by people leaving those respective categories by their own will?

"The latest Advanced Entitlement Bid has been posted on DeltaNet.

355 Captain Vacancies (including 10 NYC 320 & 5 NYC 73N) , and 314 F/O Vacancies (including 10 NYC 320 & 5 NYC 73N)

This bid as previously announced closes the ATL 767 Domestic category, and all DC9 Categories. There were 3 NYC 765 B displacements posted. No other NYC displacements.

When factoring in the displacements, this bid has posted a net positive 83 new Captain positions and a total net positive 57 positions."

This is Council 66's FB post. Look how rosy they make it all sound!! Of Course they show all the vacancy numbers but not the displacement numbers. And what us really junior guys care about are all the windfall displacements that aren't published.

I am happy that I have a job here at Delta. Kinda....

The great thing is that the stock is up above $16 so someone's getting RICH due to new pilot productivity and joint ventures. Can't wait to see what else is given away in the next contract in 7 years.

200 new captains since aug with additional bids coming and the pilot surplus gone after this bid. Not bad with the contract only 9 weeks past the amendable date. Nothing to backpedal about!

Retirements and even early retirements don't really help the bottom guys but can be a windfall for the top guys:

Hypothetical numbers:
Top 25% - Retire early.
2nd Quartile - are now the top 1/3 Windfall
3rd Quartile - now the middle 1/3 Slight improvement
Bottom Quartile - now the bottom 1/3. Still on the bottom.

We all get 5 extra years. Captains get 5 more years as a Captain. FO's get 5 more years as an FO. Not the Captains fault, but don't tell me how great DAL is for the Pilots. The frustrating thing is we keep being told - its getting better, wait for the next bid etc - its getting old.

Spot on Scoop.

Especially when it's coming from guys that most likely made captain in 10-12 years, if not even earlier.

But Ruthless Rye makes everything better!!

Doubtful many of those are new captains. I'd be willing to bet nearly all of them held captain within the last 6 years that are finally getting back to the left seat.

How many displacements have these bids generated, while we're talking about this?

Why should Tiger Woods (for example) get to deduct the cost of flying around in a Gulfstream? He should be able to deduct the cost of a full fare coach ticket. If he wants to fly any thing else: Great he can deduct the full coach fare, and pay the difference out of pocket.

Why should the US taxpayers subsidize the lifestyles of the uber-rich?

So... Tiger Woods not paying any more taxes... somehow gets translated into his being subsidized?

Uh-huh....

"Well above 100 new capt. positions." Fail.

and the pilot surplus gone after this bid
Says who? The same people that brought you "we may start the hiring process 4th qtr of '12."

Their current statement does not say that the surplus is gone after this bid. It says: "we believe" and "most likely." That does not say it is gone. It is the typical -boy that cried wolf/full of loopholes- statement.
