How many events can this training department handle a year again?

But come hell or high water, no matter what, even if flights are cancelled - the A320 is overstaffed.

Given the timing of the new bodies, the unfilled 717 slots will be slated for newbies and displacements to "fund" positions will slow to a trickle or cease. It was just illogical on the latest crew planning news that they could even think of "funding" the 717 slots with continued displacements.

The good news is, junior guys will initially move even further backwards, as bypass folks return. (Granted, it will be less than 200.)

Purple Drank would also prefer that all SIC pilots remain SIC. Heaven forbid that they become well and rejoin our ranks. There are 200'ish folk on Mil Leave and 200'ish on bypass; that's a drop in the hat compared to the 600+ on SIC.

Don't tell Purple Drank your room number at the hospital, he will likely sneak in and pull the plug.

I guess we will know in the Aug/Sep time frame when we see how many more FO displacements there are to the 717. I can't take another AE (I mean displacement bid) like the last one. 20% of my category was MD

Will it? How are we already certain that will be the case? What if only 100 accept recall, & no military leaves come back? Everyone seems to be assuming that every MIL leave guy is at the end of his leave. Some of the military leaves just went on leave recently. As in last month.

This announcement has absolutely nothing to do with military leave pilots. That is 100% irrelevant. When a mil leave pilot is done with leave, the mil leave pilot comes back and picks their airplane out of anything in the system they can hold, hiring or not. Period. This has nothing to do with mil leave pilots.

That's very possible, however in 2010 they said 300 and it was 300. This time they say 300...

We'll see. I guess it depends on the rumored A/C order and if any of it is actually growth.

Truthiness. I would have never guessed that when I bid for the 320 that I would have ended up at 7% lower than my qual value for it in the bid. I got it. No one else bid it, but MIL types moved in. Not their fault, but that's how it is. It did cost me around 20 grand on my 2012 W2, though...

The last two bids showed that they were at the ends of the rope of making it happen with current staffing. I think the next will show return to better.

I guess you just found the the 300 surplus pilots that CR has been talking about. Displacements and hiring at same time. Yikes that is a lot of training.

Does anyone have the senior most date of furlough bypass? While he didn't mention it specifically I take it this number includes voluntary furloughs/leaves?

Asiana Crash KTVU-TV Report: Airline Says TV Station Damaged Its Reputation (VIDEO)

Apparently this report is damaging Asiana's reputation, not the fact that one of their B777's crashed landed.
