I hAve a couple thousand hrs in those type, we don't land on the nose wheel, normally. In that pic, that's where I would begin the flare to keep the nose off the grnd until touch-down. Should lose about 15kts at idle and MLG touch a little beyond initial NW flare point. 10kts headwind.

My old man flew those at Dobbins until they swapped out for the C130. He really enjoyed flying it. Had some crazy incidents, too... including one where one MLG wouldn't come down and they ended up breaking out a window and dislodging the gear with a pole!

I see "open reserve days" is now a link under open time in iCrew....

How much does the reserve guarantee go up if you take this?
I really hope this does not kill too many green slips.

Flew them at Kwajalein / Meck / Roi Namur in the Marshall Islands. One fine short field airplane. Photo is Meck Island - fun at night in the rain with a cross wind.

The only way I could ever see using that option is to drop reserve days you didn't want but instead of losing pay you pick up reserve days elsewhere. It'd been handy the time my kids went for extended stays at Children's Hospital and I had to PB days on reserve and take the pay hit. I'd much rather have had an option to pick something up elsewhere than just drop the days.

I would find doing this https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/i...mFMbDVAWhIpB-K more rewarding than to adding additional SC or reserve days.

Question about this from Council 1,

"New Aircraft: Delta is pursuing an order for 8–12 wide-body aircraft for delivery starting in 2015. These will be used for flying from West Coast (SEA/LAX) to Asia (HKG, PVG, PEK) with the ability to over-fly NRT/HND."

"Hiring: We anticipate a nominal amount of hiring in 2014; currently estimating 60 per month January–June, then 20 per month."

Are we contemplating not having NRT if we are looking for WBs to overfly it?

If so I hope we get some of these just so we can have as many varied types of WBs as we do NBs :D

Anyone have experience PD your entire line, then try to fill up via WS? Failed bidding this month! It seems some guys do this, but risky?

If you drop to pick up 3 and 4 day trips I don't see that as being hard to do as long as your category has open time normally. The only issue is weekends, once the weekends go below the minimums on coverage they don't really climb back up meaning your stuck. And I think the risk is when you play the 2-day WS game.

Look at the history in your category. You can see the daily trip assignments. You can quickly tell the amount of trips and quality going out to reserves and ws's awarded to guys junior. If things looked good the last 30 days they should be even better next month. It requires a small amount of work as you should make a effort to check open time before the windows and construct good blanket ws requests. Keep in mind that if you put in a request for a trip that blocks in before 1800, So it's commutable that includes a trip that blocks in at 0010! Don't ask me how I learned this.

Thanks all! No weekend trips to drop, so hopefully coverage will work out.
