Blah blah blah, black helicopters and back room deals. If Delta wanted to do what you are claiming it could have been done years ago with compass and mesaba. Why didn't they? They didn't and still don't want to. Pinnacle was a trash can to get rid of numerous unwanted a/c. They used them, scammed and pressured the employees to sign off on it. Sent them into bk, bought them cheaper than the gains made with the a/c shed and lowering of the bar for pay all around. Now they will make them sound like the next latest and greatest thing. Give them a bunch of planes, build up their routes....then guess what.......sold. Rinse wash repeat.

And if you aren't right?...

Never put your guns down but you don't need to have your finger on the trigger either. Same fear from Delta/Comair purchase....NWA with Mesaba....Pinnacle......AA buying all the Eagles. Again like the Under Armor commercial "Protect this house!" but tons of examples for these types of contract work shuffle board games. This is the same rinse wash repeat that has been going on for years. It serves the purpose to keep a cheap product to serve thinner routes and cities.

Bar, it's my opinion that your over thinking this one. Pinnacle was in deep doo doo. They were run by morons. They were in bankruptcy. Delta found a way to control them. Delta found a really cheap way to buy them, insert delta management and be the lowest cost regional. This will allow them to negotiate lower rates with the likes of Skywest and the rest of the regionals. Smart move to lower costs. Cheaper regional feed means more money left over to line our mainline pockets.

Cheaper regional feed = more incentive to outsource mainline jobs

And did we do this with Pinnacle and not Compass? Did it literally come down this way because Compass operated EMBs and CR9s were the choice moving forward?

FTB,

DL agreed to a guaranteed interview program with Compass last year for non flow eligible pilots, such as myself. It however didn't have any monthly quotas like the one signed with Pinnacle, at least none that were mentioned in the company memo. I don't think this was an ALPA agreement either.

PS. The number one pilot on the proposed CAL/UA seniority list is a CAL LAX 737 CA.<----paybanding result.

Is that a bad thing?

Anybody else hate 80kts as much as I do right now.....?

That's the logic employed by the "outsourcing is good" crowd.

Is it the proper role of a union to leverage outsourcing ? If so, who's job gets outsourced and how do we decide while affording all members equal representation ? After we sell our flying, then what?

The bottom line of my rant is that we seriously undermined our own bargaining position and there wasn't a peep from anyone.
