Even though we disagree on most of these items, I always appreciate your position Denny. I don't consider it just back and forth. You've definitely taught me a thing or two these past few years.

Do we do an ESV for Normal requal? The 88 letter is confusing. It says we do a systems validation, but it is not anywhere on my training schedule
Our curriculum outline shows "Operational Systems Validation (SV) “oral” covers 737NG limitations, memory items, and walk-around slides. ". This is right before the 841 event - the DGS guy is going to quiz us on walk around slides, lims, and memory items. Have your distance learning complete for day 1 with 2 copies of your completion printout and you should be good to go. |

I'm not trivializing the strike, what led to it, or its conclusion. I said that the NWA guys ran an impeccable strike. If they got rid of the B scale at that time, then I applaud that (and also acknowledge that it took some negotiating capital to get rid of that).
I'm just tired of guys bashing DALPA for accomplishing MORE outside of a strike than other groups have accomplished within one. For example, we got rid of our B scale in conjunction with establishing pay rates for the 777 and 767-400....

So while I salute you over a well-conducted (and needed) strike, I would contend that it was a fair at best financial result, and one that today would probably be roundly criticized. I don't disagree with what you are saying. DALPA has done some good things. But, so has Southwest, UPS, FED Ex, United, & Continental. The advances all seem connected to me. Didn't you guys get the rates you got in 2001 because of the rates United got in 2000? Isn't it possible that UAL got those rates in 2000 because their management didn't want to deal with what NWA had to deal with in 1998? Instead of elevating how DALPA did as compared to others, (and/or being critical of them) maybe you should just let their achievements rest on their own. Like I said, it just seems disrespectful. |

Age 70 rule: First order of the day, change uniforms to baggy jumpsuits and soft, squishy shoes.. Oh, and big wrap-around sunglasses. Clever saying ball caps optional... i.e. my grandson flies for GO-JET.

.....fair point....it's misrepresenting the outcome of it. As I recall, as a result of it, we DID get rid of the B scale. That was huge back then and probably a large part of why you guys were able to do it as well. I don't disagree with what you are saying. DALPA has done some good things. Exactly. And what is the potential downside? We say nope. You have to pull down the codeshare and then they say fine, we are gonna cut all the unprofitable flying to/from NRT since we have no contractual obligations anymore. I have no idea of the profitability of those flights, and I highly suggest that those that are grabbing their pitchforks better get that data before you go down this path. The downside risk could very well be more detrimental than beneficial. That being said, I would guess the company still does desire labor peace, so we will have a little leverage to negotiate from. We will see in September.
