ALPA, at that time, said it was a non starter. Maybe they like you better than me, but they were unwilling to even inquire about pilots being treated like every ramper, gate agent, or manager. |

Close, but not exactly. If you are on the list to flow, you will flow. That part is correct.
However, NWA's requirements were not identical to Delta's prior to the merger. Competitive at NWA might have included a degree, but it my understanding that a degree was not "required." That's why some do not have it. If you had "awesome time", like 12,000 TT and 8,000 PIC in the DC-10 or 747 flying the Pacific, then you MIGHT have gotten a pass. But the number of those guys is darn few. Nu |

You propose that ALPA negotiate pass travel priorities? I see it as a wedge issue. When the details were rolled out, 62% would like them, and 38% wouldn't. (Percentages used for illustration only)
In my view treating pilots equally with every other employee on the property isn't a negotiation, it is ministerial. If the group wants to negotiate some sort of change, more power to them. I own my own aircraft and don't have a dog in this fight as much as some. Delta pays me well enough that I BUY a ticket on DELTA (support the home team) when I need to get somewhere commercial. (have not even renewed my $50 fee in a year ...) NOT MINE ... but, an example of the best non-rev alternative: http://www.detrayaviation.com/detray/planes/3240n_e.jpg |

Wait till you retire. It is next to impossible to non rev on a S3B. It is painful to see a 2013 hire get on before me. Not whining, I know the rules. It would be nice to get a few (4) trips a year using an S2 or 3 for vacation trips. Something to think about in the next contract. This would be a no cost item to the company. Just saying!

And just think, with the thousands about to retire, how impossible it would be to get to and from work.
