Our "everybody manning" compensation system with no premium pay or penalty to the company is a contract section we need to work on. It's one of those things that I never really thought of until this last month because we have always been overstaffed since I have been here. New bid strategy in summer will be to award latest shows with earliest finishes and least TAFB to minimize the reroutes.

Unfortunately as long as OPs is not cancelling flights due to lack of pilots, the company will continue to figure they are correctly manned. GS are still cheaper then another pilot on the list.

It also, in effect, takes seniority out of the bidding process.
This was part of the reason I was a no voter. Makes it hard to plan around kids events, etc when you're effectively on reserve during your trip with no regard for seniority. |

Based on how negotiations went regarding the reserve portion of our contract I'd prefer our negotiators stay away from discussing any changes to the PWA regarding reroutes. They'll only make it worse. But we'll be told how great the changes are and it didn't cost us that much in negotiating capital.

As far as I can tell from reading the PWA, yellow slips are supposed to trump availability buckets. Perhaps I'm missing something? |

It's really only worth it to yellow if the trip you want is in your bucket or if they are out of pilots in the bucket that pertains to your trip. |
