Hey guys, slow down and make sure to read the notes on the flight plan. Sometimes they are important. Like a Capt, FO and dispatcher missing a note to NOT send an aircraft to a certain city with an inop APU. Note has been on the flight plan since June 23rd. Many pax missing connections.

Agreed, cleaning up the notams would also help a lot.

Don't have a FOM handy. What is the policy of crew bags while on company business(DH to layover)? Does the capt. have the authority to insist that a pilot on company business, boarding in his assigned zone(zone 1) check or crew tag their bags?

NERD, that belongs in the TOTD thread with Bar.

While I've rarely seen it enforced, it is in the FOM on page 4.1.7. You're allowed the same as passengers, 1 bag that meets size requirements and 1 personal item. If you're in uniform you're supposed to DH tag; out of uniform you're supposed to check it.

FWIW.

I love working here and hope those middle eastern carriers fizzle out too but your sticking your head in the sand if you think their product doesn't trump ours everyday of the week. I have seen both and been in our best product for quite a few crossings. We should definitely be concerned. I think one of the most difficult things for us to fix will be those senior mamas that hate their jobs but will continue to come collect a paycheck and try and keep score on how many high value customers they honked off today.

IF the company truly wanted to get rid of them, they'd stop building them day turns worth 11 hours. If they had to layover anywhere, ever, you'd see the vast majority of them head for the door. Medicare and Medicaid takes care of the insurance issue, they still have pensions, plus whatever is in their 401k. Buh-bye.
