A nice start would be for the company, during this time of significant profits, to reinvest in it's employees a little just by not raising our insurance costs. They can easily afford to just keep the plans the same. I figure that between that and the reduced profit sharing that 3% will be more like 0% - inflation...

You said it perfectly. Some are obsessed with what other airlines make, particularly SW. I have no idea how SW will fare over time, but I don't want to be tied to their fortunes: I want to be rewarded to my contribution to my company's success. Ours have been immense.
Our contributions > our company's success > our company's ability to pay > our returns on contributions. I don't want to be greedy. But, I don't want to be restricted because the other groups aren't doing as well. When they get it together, they can use us as a way to catch up. (We can leave behind some breadcrumbs, or something, to show them the path. :) ) Just because we are leading, doesn't mean we have to slow down. ;) |

Last time I was in Paris, I had to fly into BOS. Loads to MSP, JFK etc were full. The airport has free wifi for half an hour. That was useful for checking loads via the ipad.

Those rates are pretty well in line with Air France and KLM. However, at Air France, the upgrade time to 777A was running at 10 years for awhile. So, you really wouldn't be looking at a 6 year M88 pay rate for long. As I'm sure you are aware, those airlines are JV partners of ours and sell tickets on us and we sell tickets on them.

The first $1 Billion in profits came right out of our paychecks. Oh, and Richard just got a 42% raise, from $8 Million to over $12 Million. I think a 25% raise, per year, for the ones who SAVED Delta from liquidation is not at all unreasonable. |
But your willingness for appeasement, If you research my posts enough, you'll realize that I was in Kandahar, Afghanistan during the last contract & had intentions of being the VERY FIRST "NO" vote of C2012. As it turned out, I wasn't able to vote (NO) for C2012, as I'd been on a MLOA for too long. Someone has to be at the top of the pay/benefits pyramid, I think it should be Delta, not Fed Ex, not SWA. BUT... are YOU willing to strike to achieve significant gains? But if you aren't willing to stand up for yourself, and at least try to reclaim the sacrifices we have made in pay and retirement, then come time to renegotiating our next contract, well, you might as well bend over, again, and say, "Thank you sir, may I have another?" 3%? |
Well said Timbo, hear, hear. It's time to take a stand for what you believe in, and find the real value in our efforts as a pilot group. People who acquiesce are recipients of the benefits of those who are willing to fight. Got it. So you think that we should stand our ground, & go on strike if we don't archive a 200% pay increase over the next contract term? Since you've been part of the airline industry for a WHOLE three years, you do understand the ramifications of the Railway Labor Act (RLA) & the National Mediation Board (NMB) releasing our labor group for strike, right? I think you & the rest of the DPA (donut-hole) club need to "stand string" for what you believe in, & press hard for that 200% pay increase. How far has that gotten the DPA so far? Did I miss a vote? Have we elected a new bargaining agent? Answer: NO GJ |
I want........................................One MILLION Percent! (put pinky to mouth) Careful, or the donut-hole (DPA) clown show is going to step in & accuse you of "managing their expectations." What say you, Purple Drank? GJ |

I've never been a "just say No" kind of guy. That's not a strategy.
Delta hires a risk averse personality type, that has been proven over and over. How I slipped through is anyone's guess, the Doc. must have been drunk that day. But if you aren't willing to stand up for yourself, and at least try to reclaim the sacrifices we have made in pay and retirement, then come time to renegotiating our next contract, well, you might as well bend over, again, and say, "Thank you sir, may I have another?" 3%? For the next two years? Paid for by reducing our profit sharing by 33% in the highest profit years? GMAFB. |
OBTW, thanks Denny!! :D
