This guy lost credibility with me when he used the Eskimo logo as a big talking point. It's pretty well common knowledge in the Seattle/Anchorage aviation communities that the Eskimo will be gone within the year.

I hear rumors of us merging with them as well.

I just don't see how that will be approved. I think the DOJ fired their shot across the bow of the industry already. Next they'll just start shooting at the hull.

Couple of dots for those who keep an eye on the operational costs of aircraft

787 Fuel Advantage: In the never-ending war of words between Airbus and Boeing, readers know we always connect with airlines to cross-check what the OEMs say.

As readers also know, Boeing promotes its 787 as being 20%-25% more fuel efficient than today’s airplanes. With the (also) never-ending prospect of Airbus proceeding with an A330neo, the question arises over what the delta is between the A330 and the 787. We asked a fleet planner. The answer: 10% in favor of the 787, a gap that an A330neo could narrow considerably (but be unlikely to close altogether) with new engines and sharklets. So how about that 20%-25%? These figures compare with the 767 and A340 respectively, the fleet planner tells us.

I don't think it was a shot across the bow over all, but rather a Wildturkey Tango Foxtrot were you thinking not paying off Most Favored Airline (SWA) with some slots?"

That's what that issue has been about, and that's all its been about. A DL/AS merger wouldn't have much forced divesture at all except maybe a token in LA. We could easily upgauge in size what we lose in frequency anyway.

We can deduct our health insurance premiums. From the instructions for schedule A:

Yeah but don't they have to exceed 8.5% of AGI or something like that? I don't itemize and am relatively healthy with no kids, so that prolly wouldn't be a player anyway. What I am waaaaay more concerned about is the potential to get taxed on that "income", and I sincerely believe the "progressives" will come after that before it is all over...
