It's a fairly common theme on this thread, for the junior guys to complain that the senior guys need to be more in touch with the needs of the more junior guys. Attention, junior guys, you are putting your own jobs in jeopardy by "working the system" and flying high lines. There are WAY too many guys getting paid for sitting while others are getting paid for flying extra.
A classic example was just a few posts ago. A junior 88B bragging about getting paid for not doing much. I hope that you realize that you are cutting your own throat.

Its not just the junior guys playing the game. I fly with a lot of CA's who either fly way past the ALV, or do nothing at all, and collect their reserve guarantee and pursue their other profession, slum lord, carpet cleaning, whatever. Its the way the system is built and what we agreed to in our last contract negotiations.

In the last 32 days I've flown one 3 day. I'm proudly doing my part. :)

What I am saying is a lot is in the works, whether it every come to fruition is a different story. If we knew half of what was planned or thought about, it would blow your mind.

I am not saying anything more than what is in the press. Look at their time line.

I can use all 100 hours of my sick time each year. Will that help us not furlough? If so, I'm all in.

Also, soon to a pilot and soon to an airline are two different time lines compleatly. When talking about things that may be coming, airlines deal in quarters and years, where we deal in much smaller time increments.

When I look forward and connect dots or look at strategy, I am looking one, three, five, and ten years down the road. Not days, weeks or months.

We may see where we are going, but it will take the company years to make a lot those plans a reality.

I'm thinking not. :(

At management's big meeting yesterday, RA answered a question about airplanes saying they weren't contemplating any new aircraft orders. Their whole focus is to get the customer experience, especially the premium customer experience, standardized and improved. They had a presentation by J.D. Power to all the junior managers on what in their opinion Delta needs to change. Then all the Execs got presented behind that theme.

I'd be surprised to see anything major in aircraft orders, other than the desire to either grow or quit the MD-90 fleet.

The key question to that statement is time frame. I am sure he did not say that.

I also think that "Major" is a key word. They have time to play that one a little longer.

Once again, he sounds like he was negotiating in public.

Right now they have a bunch of 757's either underused or in the desert. What airplanes would they order? They will probably need some more 777's in a while but right now they have a lot of unused international capacity. Airframes they got, they just need more high fare customers right now.
