Wait a minute... seems as if there are fewer RES pilots now than a year ago, a lot more REG pilots. How am I going to take a month off and have someone fly for me if we have fewer RES pilots. It's like... they figured it out.

johnso29 will try to tell us why the company would never exploit something they negotiated for (and we gave away). and slowplay will tell us how much better QOL is. and shiznit will tell us to shut up and color, and let our "MEC speak for us." good times. |

...and we can be sure now that they're short on NB pilots, they'll also figure out ALV+15 this summer.

Oh, and you'll have to quote the post in which I stated the company will never fly a reserve to ALV+15. I'll save you some time. You won't be able to do so, because I never said that. I guess hiring will stop too? Ya know? Since the company still just fly reserves to ALV+15 all the time. |

How many times have you involuntarily flown ALV+15 while on reserve?
In my opinion, the airline will "feel" more tightly staffed as we retire guys in the future. A school house full of pilots advancing to better positions will result and at any given time there will be less pilots to fly the line. The reserve utilization will be much different than what we've seen the last few years. This might not happen for 5-8 years, but when we are retiring 800+ a year you can bet that it MIGHT. Just my opinion. |

I think that the point is that they now CAN and WILL do so if needed.

Just my opinion. I agree to a point. And every now and then a reserve will fly ALV+15. But the staffing formula simply does not allow the company to fly reserves to ALV+15 year round. |

Hmmmm. Not that I can come up with a better place for it, but having to cross both north runways (and then back again?) for every departure would only work on a massively culled schedule.
Better than nothing I guess, but I'd focus more on at or off gate solutions. Taxiing the fleet north of 26R for every departure would be a gear grinding nightmare even if the facility was awesome. It took over an hr for MSP to deice 3 planes with 2 trucks at the 12L pad on Saturday..maybe we should look west to SLC for advice? |
Rumor alert:
DAL to announce a 50 aircraft 787 order with delivery to begin late this year. And a 50 wide body RFP to Airbus and Boeing. It's a rumor but the source is impeccable. |
