I guess whiskey and yelling on internet forums is good for you. |

I remember reading a study commissioned by PanAm many years ago about life expectancy of long haul pilots. It turns out that those pilots who predominately flew the east/west routes lived on average, seven years less than those pilots who flew the north/south pilots.
Beyond that, I did some research before I retired and found that if a person, regardless of his profession, retired before age 55, he would live a much longer life than he would if he retired at age 65 and beyond. I am guessing that a lot of this had to do with socio-economic issues, but it was an eye opener nonetheless. In the early 1940s, if a person worked to age 65, his average life expectancy was 67. There is an interesting website called livingto100.com. There is a simple questionnaire you fill out to give you a better idea how long you are going to be on the planet. https://www.livingto100.com/ Only 92 for me, I'm sure the FAA will raise the retirement age to 95 long before I get there though! |
OK, 102. Not sure about that, but I did have 2 relatives over 90, one died at 105. I think I'm going drink more, maybe with some red meat.

93 for me, so I get to be junior to you for a long time. At what point does it become (cockpit) socially acceptable to ask for a straw to drink your meals? If they raise the retirement age to 93, I'm going to get my dog listed as a therapy dog so I can bring him on trips.
Not you Scambo! I know you will need the dog to carry the Viagra!:D |

With special care and feeding, pilots can work for hundreds of years.
Here's one of them, with his crew, visiting the CEO: :D Dune (1984): Emperor and Guild Navigator Meeting - Video |
Big picture. I heard there's an airplane in there somewhere.

Not true. Reroute pay is single pay, no credit, in addition to whatever the rotation would have otherwise been worth.
I think we are saying the same thing however. Any leg covered under RR pay you will get double pay. You get single pay and credit plus single pay no credit. If your normal per hour rate is 140 you get 280 for RR legs. |
