The contract requires a schedule check prior to starting a reserve day grouping. Nothing in 117 changes that. Per 117 that check triggers a requirement for 10 hours off. I have seen nothing from the union stating otherwise.
I can't even grasp why someone thinks that FAR's modify the personal working agreement. They never have and never will unless we write that into the contract. You as a pilot are responsible for complying with all FAR's. You should also comply with the contract however many pilots wave this if it suits them. Again however the contract is a stand alone document.

Where does the FAR state how many days off you have?

I think the bullet point is that pilots very, very, far below your seniority were told to monitor their schedules for reserve trip assignments in ways that did not abide the language in our PWA. Some decided to follow their contract and the Company has also followed the contract, or at least not pursued that matter in a form which would result in a grevance yet.
Edited. To crude even for me.
Sorry, Sailing. I'm going to have to disagree with you here. From the "ALPA Guide to FAR 117":
Q-74. Can the certificate holder require a flightcrew member to check
a computer, email calendar, text or other conversation media to
determine assignment, changes, etc. during a rest period?
A-74. No. During a rest period, regardless of length, a flightcrew
member must be free from all restraint. If a flightcrew
member is required to do something by the certificate
holder, he/she is not free from all restraint.
The last-day schedule check is dead. And yes, it is rest.

"Take a month off".
If I lived in the ATL, I'd be all over it too!
Even though we have 3-4X avail (20) vs. req. reserves (5) every day, green slips still go out.

I'm bidding reserve next month because I have vacation. We'll see how it plays out.
