Interesting chart from Bombardier's C Series Update. Wonder what the distribution curve looks like for Delta, inclusive of DCI?

http://leehamnews.files.wordpress.co...pg?w=593&h=428

C-Series quoted range is 3,950NM. That would be capable of any domestic mission without exception.

Because then you get paid for both. He's talking about using a PB day (that he earned with a GS or maybe a rerouter) to drop a day of flying.

And people think the middle eastern carriers are glamorous to work for... They are still 3rd world, middle eastern countires no matter what amenities they provide. NO THANK YOU.

Yes, but who doesn't want to be a Prince? From a passenger's perspective subjugation might even have an appeal.

There are many of us who's career stagnated for various reasons who would probably jump at the opportunity to work at a position appropriate for our age if it were domestic and paid well enough.

FWIW, our friends from express carriers who did not get hired at Delta in 2007 (or who never applied) are 777 Captains who encourage their friends to come join them.

So true. All of my former colleagues who got hired at Emirates around that time are Captains on the 777 or 330 by now. Some can even hold the left seat on the 380. So glad I can hold narrow body reserve as a FO with Tuesdays off  (not complaining, but the irony...)

I'd take right seat NB at Delta over all of the above. Living where you want to live is worth WAAYYYY more, at least to me, than being able to say "I'm a 777 CA." When you think about it, it's the same reason many of us won't chase flying to NYC, even though we could all hold something better there.

Well, soon I am sure there will be the option to live in the US and work for a wide variety of foreign carriers. It has already started with some.

I don't think you will see the larger Mid East carriers go that route. They like to maintain absolute control over their employees. They will not see a real shortage of applicants and if they do they will pay more.

They have LGBP, so aircraft type doesn't matter. Coverting the top scale CA (10 yr) pay over there is $10548 +16.26 per flt hour.
The first 97k is tax free so that helps to the tune of $24,300/yr = $2,025/mo
So an 80 hour month= $10548+1,300+2025= 13,873 = $173/hr. (effective rate conversion)

Flying on days off is $176+$16.26/hr, so a 10 hr 2-day pays $515 (not sure on the calc for this)
401k is 12% until after year 10, then 15%
Housing/utilities paid... But you have to live in the sandbox.

This info comes from APC Emirates profile.
I think the recent rebounds in compensation at US legacies is starting to outstrip the MEA's. Another solid round of increases will really start to stem of the flow over to the ME from the US.

Now if the NAI "flag of convenience" model is permitted to work in the US, all bets are off.
