And I've said this before. How about this scenario: a typical winter departure out of SLC. For me, I would have out the 10-9 page and the 10-7 Obstacle Dept page. In the book, I would have the dept page tabbed and the 10-7 ramp page "opened". Since we're deicing, I would have Vol 1 out and the Deicing pamphlet out as well. Oh and the big Orange book might be out for an MEL. Now I'm supposed to replace ALL that with one 8 inch screen tablet!!!!!! anyone else think that's a degradation? I guess most other airlines are doing it so we'll figure it out......but keeping the charts would be a great help I think |

1. You can zoom in and enlarge the print...good for older eyes 2. You can open all those pages on the device and "turn" the pages to see what you want. This is great for an FO especially during deicing situations you speak of. You can have Jepp product, Vol 1 and FOM all open at once and not be balancing all the books and pages 3. No more missing pages or pages put in the wrong spot in the Jepp books. Every trip I do I have to search to find a chart because someone has taken it out of the book and put it back in the wrong spot. There is no doubt about it you will have some learning to do and it will take a while to get used to it. I think that once people are used to it they are going to like it a lot. |
