I have not given up on Donatelli just yet.
He's been very conservative so far but he might have it in him to say enough is enough. The Delta pilots have facilitated billions of dollars in corporate profit through our cooperation and collaboration with everything management wished to accomplish over the last few years. Its time for a bit of return on our investment. It's past time. Fair is fair. 4.8.3.3 is not going to cut it. The very day management ignores the $15 billion in concessions (and counting) the Delta pilot have made over the past decade. If they have $2 billion for a stock buy back, they have enough money to snap up our pay to the May 2004 Delta pilot hourly rates. Or are the pilot concessions taken in chapter 11 still necessary? We can only hope that our leader will make a strong statement on behalf of the Delta pilots saying our hourly rates of pay are FAR below what they were over a decade ago and it is long past time to share in the success we created. No party even comes close to the billions the Delta pilots have contributed and we will not be left behind. Silence is consent. |

While it's entirely possible that the company and union are currently coming to some sort of understanding on a small deal (entirely speculative, as I have no idea), I'm starting to think the same way.
I voted for C2012, mainly because I perceived it to be an insurance contract against an uncertain economy. I hoped, and I suspected the economy was going to improve, but you could have made a great case for the opposite. Now, we're getting clearer and clearer glimpses into what's actually potentially available, and it looks quite substantial. As a result, it sure feels like a quick deal might not be the way to go. The price to pay for a big deal might be a long wait, but that might be the path to maximizing gains. One question in my mind is: who might be in the White House if it gets to a strike situation. I know Clinton appointed a PEB for AMR, but he did it after 38 minutes, not by telegraphing intentions ahead. This made the threat way more credible, and put a lot more pressure on the company.

Unfortunately, I don't think it matters who is in the White House if/when we ever get to a strike. No president will allow us to strike, more so now, after consolidation. And, being the cynic that I am, it is possible Clinton told AMR's CEO not to worry, I won't let it go to far...He appeared Labor friendly, and out of view of public eyes, he was pro-business too. Most of our politicians are bought and paid for by big business. There isn't enough PAC dollars in the World to by the kind of clout required to pull off a full blown strike again.
Although the PAC does do a lot of good, and we need them, we just don't have the influence it takes to buy a President. E I picketed at DFW during the NWA strike (along with lots of Delta bubbas) and American guys. One day, as we were taking a break from the walk of the living dead, the APA Chairman told us that they actually asked President Clinton to put them back to work. Something about killing the golden goose. Not a conspiracy theory, I heard the dude say it. Kinda crappy thing to tell guys actively on strike. The politics get crazy during a strike. I forget the name of the administrations hit man, but he promised a $hit sandwich to both us and NWA management if we didn't settle. So, will any president let us strike......it's a moot point, honest. Doesn't matter which party. Ferd |

If reserve worked so good for you, why will you bid a regular line in July or August? I'm thinking with the 100/28 FAR 117 limitation, reserve is the best way to GS.
Let's see, use 12 day drop two 36 hour 6 day trips. 72:00 + 3 from the bank to reach GS trigger + 70:00 for one 6 day/35 hour GS + 70:00 for the 2nd 6 day/35 hour GS = a possible 215 hour month for flying 12 days.... Granted that's a pie in the sky scenario but, if nothing else, I get a month during the summer off!:) I think it's a much better use of PB days. Thanks for the explanation Denny. Makes sense to me.

Moved up about 12 numbers on 330B, could have held M88A in NYC with about 19 below if I wanted, about 200 from 73NA and 32 from 320A. Too bad I don't live there abouts. Like driving to work too much
I did just get a 7 day GS and started Rolling Thunder which is even better :D |

Should we go ahead and agree to whatever they have on the table now to meet a particular timeline? |

If he was there, not sure that it really "says it all". It could say that they're BFFs with Richard, or it could say they took the opportunity to interact one-on-one with him in an informal environment in an effort to break the stalemate on this 117 thing. The simple fact of them being at the game together (if it's a fact) doesn't argue one way or the other. Rest of your post, I agree on. I'm a FNG so I can't complain much, but the rest of ya'll gave up a lot the last decade, and deserve a good portion of it back now that the company is doing so well. |
