I think we sold our Narita scope too cheap. We've been doing that for a long time now. Its my opinion that we've been leaving money on the table with all the recent LOAs and MOUs. I don't think constructive engagement is working anymore. DALPA needs to get more aggressive. Management is outmaneuvering us and playing on our residual fear from the near death experience we had in bankruptcy. I'm afraid its about to happen again with this 117 negotiation. We have a lot more leverage here than the union wants to acknowledge. If our union had the will to do so, we could throw a great big handful of sand into the well-oiled Delta machine this summer. Perfectly legally and well within the bounds of the Railway Labor Act. But they won't do it. They'd rather maintain peace and good will toward men and have Richard come to their meetings in "closed session" and whisper some juicy info to them and stroke their egos. We deserve more money. We deserve a union that will go and get it for us. Don't misunderstand. I don't want the DPA. I want to keep ALPA. I just want to slap them upside the head and get some fire back into the organization. This "cooperation not confrontation" thing has run its course. Management is eating our lunch. As far as the 117 talks... I spoke to the ALPA communications guy tonight at the PUB event. He said there was a big announcement next week, then intimated that some people won't be happy. When pressed, he wouldn't say if the unhappy people would be the reserve holders of the world, or the I am never happy crowd. It did seem like the former rather than the latter. Keep your expectations low, and you'll never (well almost ever) be disappointed. |
I think the PCS menu sucks, big time!
It's been around for about 20 years and really needs to be updated, to make it easier to input what you really want (and don't want!). As it is now, you have to input every possible combination of trips to swap, by number, on a separate line. Last month it took me HOURS to put in 8 swaps, because I had to list them all on a different line, with all the possible date/trip combinations (dropping 1 crappy trip for 2 goods trips). It would be great if you could just put, "Drop this POS 4 day, and add any 2 high time 2-3 day trips". But you can't . You have to list every possible combination, by trip number, and date, which is a huge pita, considering they have a different trip number for every day of the month, even if it's exactly the same trip. |

Does anyone know what the company is putting out to the FNGs at indoc regarding their reserve obligations? Is the SD memo part of their welcome aboard? Is ALPA around there to spell out the contract requirements? Is there a guideline that we can download?
Just curious. There has to be a few of us going from line to rsv as these bids come out and I can't believe something that has as big of a change as the company wants regarding the memo is only published once. Unless they only wanted to see what stuck after the single shot. |
