I have yet to understand why we continuously move backwards in this time of hiring and new captains (over 500 according to people on this board). I actually dread AE's because I inevitably move backwards on every AE for nearly half of a decade. I was also exactly 40% in 2011 and am now 60%ish. Why exactly is this happening? at this rate you will be displaced out of LA by 2017. Does this concern and/or surprise you.

Just venting not trying to bring doom and gloom to the west. I'm sure it is better that seems.

I try to ignore AEs. The merger, which has been awesome, was responsible for a lot of my backtracking. No complaints. Equipment maneuvering, ie, shifting guys out of the 75/76 to the 73 is the rest. We're at least making an attempt at growing LA lately. I'm not moving positively because it's LA. Hopefully soon. Apples to oranges, but I was in the left seat of a heavy in the Air Force for 18 years. I'm a damn good FO but I'd like to be in command again some day. I miss the taxiing!:D

I'm interested in seeing this in print. I've only heard rumors of rumors, but nothing actually stated for a nb SEA base. Where is this written?

I'm sure it isn't written. But I hear it's going to happen. Only question being which aircraft(s).

It's briefly discussed in the "Vice Chairman's Perspective" portion on page 4 of Council 54's (SEA) June 24th update available at Alpa.org (member login).

Delta Air Lines (DAL) last week included Boston in its list of key hubs and markets for the first time, worrying JetBlue (JBLU) investors, but Wolfe Research thinks DAL’s decision could be good news for JBLU, much in the way it ultimately was for Alaska Air (ALK).
Wolfe believes JBLU management seeks a 7% return on investment capital this year, but it does not see it happening under the current strategy; the firm figures DAL's growth into Boston might help to force hard choices, as it did for Alaska Air.
ALK shares fell 26% from peak to trough in May-June 2013 on fears of competitive capacity growth, which led it to take action on fees and resulting in ALK stock gains doubling over the next year.

30 years before Jet Blue ever existed, Delta merged with North East Airlines, to get BOS and MIA. Now, thank Dog, the new managment team is looking at taking it back.

Great guy. BTW, LOVE the Lifter pic! I remember flying a 6 ship from Tacoma to the Czech border radio silence to drop a bunch of Army dudes during a Reforger. 17.6 hours by the time we recovered to Ramstein. Did you fly the Tube O' Pain?

I posted on here about a month ago that the crew planning newsletter mentioned the possibility of a additional west coast narrow body base in 15.

The big hit to SLC and LAX guys since 2008 has been the merger. A lot of the vacancies have been filled by North guys who commuted to MSP and a lot of those were senior. Most of that has sorted itself out by now so I think we may see some movement upwards now. A narrowbody SEA base and adding more 330 time into SEA would help tons.
