forgot to bid 10-16-2009 04:11 PM

So I heard RA was jumpseating back to ATL and was left on the jetway by a gate agent who was desperate to get the plane out D0 or what have you and probably doesn't know who RA is. There was already a js but he was moving to FA js and RA went for his bag and she shut the door on him and pulled the gate off.

Um... not smart. But also welcome to gate agents hell.

It's ironic... he went on a bit of a rant in regards to that the other day.

I had an agent in SJO actually go back and revise the out time to on-time one day. Kinda ballsy considering AWABS was down and we didn't turn on the beacon until it came back online...

Need to make sure that virtual base is staffed normally under the formula for schedule holders and reserve needs. None of this no reserve cover it on your own crap

So I guess the 777A-LOS bid won't work for me... damn.

It is the real deal if AMR will not move.

AMR deal is dead... heard it straight from the horse's mouth. T4 is the newest idea. A couple of hurdles to overcome.. the biggest of which is the Port Authority's apparent lack of funds due to the WTC issue... but that is the current direction.

Welcome to our weekly commute, Mr. Airline CEO.

I thought that you were safe if you were 70% or better? If they are going to carry this many reserves I guess it is time to bid ER F/O to be a line holder. Bring back the seperate block/reserve. Please tell me this is not the normal way Delta runs things.

The biggest problem is they change the ALV every month so you never really know how many line holders there will be month to month. I'm about 67% on my list and I get a line when the ALV is down and get reserve when it's up above 80. The crazy thing is they set the ALV for the entire fleet not just each base. If ATL needs a high ALV to cover the flying, but SLC does not, SLC guys get hosed because our ALV ends up being higher than it needs to be so we get tons of reserves due to the staffing issue in ATL. I wish they would do different ALV's for each base and fleet not just the fleet system wide.

RockyBoy:

The company posts what they expect each coming month as far as ALV and number of lines. Of course this does vary (pilots bidding Max/Min, vacation, training, etc). In my category NYC MD88B, you can subtract 4-5 lines of what is published and it is very accurate.

I've noticed this in alot of categories. You would think the company could have figured this out and just subtract 5 lines from their projected count. Hey, it's like telling the people your going to be 5 minutes late and then getting there on time vice the other way around. It's all about managing expectations. I would think (yes I do it every once in awhile:D) they would want to err on the low side and actually have more lines than vice versa, but again, what do I know?

They can't predict what people are going to bid. Therefore, the number of lines will vary. I'm happy that they give a projection.

So I'm thinking of moving to the NYC area and flying exclusively out of EWR. Anyone have any real estate for sale... cheap.
