SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Delta Air Lines Inc. says it will resume nonstop service between Salt Lake City and Tokyo next summer.

Delta dropped the flights Oct. 1 after a few months, citing diminished demand and fallout from the swine flu.

Delta says it will resume the Tokyo flights five times a week next summer.

The plan was part of Delta's announcement Tuesday of sweeping changes for its international routes, flights and plane types.

The world's biggest airline operator says new and expanded nonstop routes will be focused on trans-Pacific, trans-Atlantic and Africa flights.

Delta's acquisition last year of Northwest Airlines gave it more ability to shift larger planes onto more profitable routes and use smaller planes on less profitable routes.

I flew the last outbound. There is no announced resumption in the last announcement. It would also be a 2 airplane route since total turn time exceeds 24 hours.

Isn't the quarterly earnings (re: loss) report due out tomorrow? (Thursday).

I think they'll be all kinds of "announcements" that are very happy, happy as sort of cover for the latest loss numbers. I don't think this is wrong, or cynical; it is what it is though.

Anything coming out the same day as a poor quarterly earnings statement should be taken with a bit of salt though.

I just voted. I love voting.

Everyone got the address of where to go vote? The union sent out a normal cominque on Mon/Tue and in it was a Click Here To Vote link. Just click on it, it'll probably do nothing like it did no my computer and then I had to type the address in.

You are not in Council 44.

Without adding my personal opinion...you mean the guy that thinks DOH is the only "fair" way to do a merger? And who advocated such on the DALPA forum (wife is furloughed USAirways). His posts would be an interesting historical reference if we ever merged with, say, Alaska.

As to the answers that got this thread moving agiain, note that the questions above reference "Council 20". That's DTW, not SLC. My guess is that it was an "alpawatch" questionaire. Looking at their website and seeing the misinformation they produced during the merger doesn't give me any warm fuzzies about their intent or credibility.

I don't mean to rehash merger stuff that is rightfully behind us. The point is that "alpawatch" isn't accountable to anyone, and have in the past worked to divide.

Slowplay,

So your intent and credibility is 100% infallable to any bias?
