Our flying over the Atlantic has trended up ever since we bought PanAm. The ER you talk about in NY almost exploded in growth since 91. Part of that increase was adding domestic flying that you mention. The drop in international flying is mostly because post merger the company has moved that flying to other equipment. The 330 and 747, 767-400 have taken many high block hour routes including FCO, ATH, TLV, NCE, VCE ect.. In addition we lost Kiev, Amman and Cairo for rather obvious reasons. Just those 3 routes were a massive loss on block hours. Add in TLV going to the 747 and NYC lost 3 over 12 double crewed flights. Routes that were dropped altogether like Budapest have not seen a rush of airlines clamoring to serve the market. Overall our international departures out of NYC are probably near if not at all time high for Delta in the summer. Winter might be down but not that much.
Now... the real argument here is the overall block hours vis a vis our JV partners... the addition of the super ugly out of MIA, and what we are gonna get out of that. It damn well better be something better than a player to be named later. |

They did it to us in Contract 2012. They ignored the pilots and the reps and they brought us 4.8.3.3 and scope concessions.
Now it looks increasingly like they plan to do it to us again in 2015. Moak just said it right out loud. What's it going to take? At what point of selling off our professional relevance do we become irrelevant. |

I don't think you helped your case much with this. My "prove it" comment was to elicit some proof that the company is actually out of compliance. I read a lot of conjecture and hyperbole to that "fact" yet I really haven't seen any proof. IMHO, the -ER has been devastated in all this, and he is right in that sense. But you are also right that some of that flying has been taken by the 330/2x4 and 4x4.... But... I have heard that UCal is serving TXL many times/week, not to mention other destinations like Edinburgh that we dropped. While I think Hauenstein is pretty sharp, he doesn't always make the right decision, and I think he has struck out quite a few times too...

And T, all my professional discourtesy aside, I do respect your occam's razor approach to reality. IMO, you should be "up in arms" sooner though.

What scope concessions? Now you'll point out we reduced 50 seaters. And on and on. I already regret answering. ;) |
