I guess the question becomes what is more relevant. Pay rates at the peak or pay rates relative to what the industry pays today. If it's pay rates relative to the industry then we are the highest paid employees at Delta. If it's pay rates relative to the peak we are below the peak and the other employees who's jobs did not go to DGS or be reclassified as part time are back to their peak with regard to hourly rates. In work rules and retirement they are far behind not to mention they did not get the big increase from 01-04.
If you want to justify a large pay increase on the basis of what the other employees make to the NMB you will probably wind up looking foolish to the NMB when costs relative to the industry are put on the table. It would not be a smart strategy.

So if we want a "large raise" that only brings us up to prior rates even unadjusted for inflation then we have to justify it and sound reasonable and listen to all the "me too" squeals…but if any other work group is at or above pre BK pay and we're the only one that isn't, that falls on deaf ears?
Not buying it. It's getting harder and harder to be you...isn't it sailingfun. Carl |

Too much to ask I guess. :D Carl |
Quick question....... I am just going out on OE and it should be completed this week. I am not scheduled for TOE yet, what happens if I am awarded theater specific trips for next month and I am not qualified?

I was told by a 74-400 apd on the Jumpseat today that he is hearing 4 retirements this year 4 next year and the rest of the fleet gone in the next 2 1/2 years.....FWIW.

Carl I do have to say there is however something not quite right about a 7000 foot long and 400 foot wide grass runway that's smooth as a putting green! The owner was asked why he built a 7000 foot long grass strip and he replied, "I hit the river and ran out of room". http://www.tripletreeaerodrome.com/t...ree-fly-in.php |

If SLC is criticizing it, that's certainly a pleasant surprise.

Thread Creep:
October, Delta will be cutting SEA-Haneda service due to low seasonal demand. ^^^^^^^^^^^ There is no money in NRT, HND, 747-400, Cargo, ETC ETC ETC :D Continue TEN |

1 - How much sleep, if any, did you generally get during the day? 1. It varied. On days following a redeye-turn or other night flying, it was usually in the 5-6 hour range. On "normal" days, a little less.

2 - How much sleep, if any, did you generally get during the night at the hotel? 2. Usually layover minus an hour. Some of the hotels were very close, and conducive to the CDO. The sign in sheet and room key were in the van. In fact, only two of the hotels I can remember DIDN'T make it easy to get quickly to the room, and they weren't bad. Personally, I don't have sleep issues - which is why I liked "illegals". Oh, and on a side note... how do you think they came to be known as "illegals?"

3 - On average, how much sleep did you generally have during the 24 hours preceding your flight back to base in the morning?
3. It varied. When I could hold them, I planned for them. I found it easier to plan for sleep, and to recover from the flying, than it was when I flew 11-12 day Asia trips. Those things messed me up for a few days afterward. With CDO's, I was getting my flying done is fewer days, and that made my planning worth it.

4 - What does sleep science say about how much sleep a normal human being needs to function at 100%?
4. I think it says something about being rested. In my experience with CDO's, I felt safe, and MORE rested than I did on Day 9 of a 12-day, regardless of how much planning I did. I trust the science on WOCL. The CDO's I've flown allowed me to sleep during my WOCL's.

5. Yes.

I'm not sure. Doesn't matter. If we get CDO's, I'll bid them. If we don't, I won't bid them. You said you did CDO's. I'm assuming you know others who did as well. I'm asking about your personal experience with how much sleep you got and what others may have told you about how much sleep they got. Did you ever have conversations with anyone else about how they handled sleeping with CDO's? If so, what did they say? |
