Many FAs take offense at a pilot putting their bag into the FC coat closet. I always (or try to) make sure they understand that there's not enough room in the cockpit. It's actually in the Red Book (for the 73) but most of them have no clue.

Imagine that. :D

Point taken. We shouldn't be in the business of buying ER programs, but if they want us to sell them one...

It's debatable whether getting 25 guys not on the 747 is fair compensation for 25 guys on the 747, but if there is any to debate, I suggest we keep our eye on the ball, and debate the survey.

What exactly are we buying in this program?

Maybe I was being too cryptic? We don't want to buy an ER program from the company, but we should be willing to consider selling them one. They're paying 25 non-747 ER's, and getting 25 747 ER retirements in return. Should we have asked for more? I don't know, and I don't particularly care, considering our contract will be re-negotiated Section 6, and the survey is leaving several key sections wide-open.

If this was a slow month, maybe I'd be more interested in debating ER programs.

My understanding is that the company will spend the same money on the training or the negotiated ER- we're giving up nothing one way or the other.

I do see the logic in just going ahead and offering the early out, and also see the logic in holding the company to just displace. I would rather not see an unnecessary cascade of displacements, though.

I heard the first 757 to be modified is in IND at AAR.

Maybe not a concession, but it will create artificial seniority so that the guys at the bottom of that list - that would otherwise not be able to hold the airplane - will remain on that airplane. My question is whether or not I will be afforded the same consideration when we park 757s and I get bumped. Somehow, I doubt it, so guys on the 737/320/88/717 will get bumped by yours truly.... No, this is a violation of our seniority, plain and simple.

This **** ain't right.

Yes we are, artificially maintained seniority for a chosen few.

They are ALL going to be parked in less than 3 years, so...where do you expect them to go, and how's that going to help you, if we don't let them go early?

Would you prefer their artificial seniority, or your very real displacement if they don't go early?

The **** that ain't right is:

Virgin Atlantic, a company that Delta own's 49% of, is still flying 747's while Delta is parking 747's.

That **** ain't right!

Now, how about we 'leverage' this to FIX our JV imbalance?
