I lost interest and went to bed before Pitt came back to kick Carolina's arse, up until then it was a pretty lame battle of field goal kickers. (6-3) and after suffering through the Patsies equally lame game earlier, I just couldn't take it any more.
What happened in the second half? Cam get injured or picked off or...? |

Actually the NFL OT rules were (in my opinion) improved a couple of years ago. Rather than just simple sudden death, it goes like this:
1. If a team's first possession is a TD or safety (i.e. the defense caused the safety) then they win immediately. The thinking is that they have "earned" the victory.. Under this rule, they have -no chance- if the coin flip doesn't go their way and the other team scores TD on their first possession. It's lame. Both teams should have a possession. SEA obviously couldn't stop the Broncos with only 56 seconds and no timeouts, or they wouldn't have been tied in the first place. |

I did the Seahawks charter after their first game last year. The flight attendants loved him and the rest of the team. As in, they went overboard in singing their praises. (Professional, nice, well-mannered, etc.)
Maybe it's a LAX/SEA thing? :) |

I understand the rules, I just don't agree with them, especially THIS rule. The team who first gets the ball hasn't 'earned' squat, until they have STOPPED the other team from scoring when THEY get a chance.

I would like to see some version of how college does it, with a way to avoid the occasional triple and quadruple O/Ts. It certainly is a lot more entertaining, and truly fair. |
Anyone know when your supposed to be in your seat (in the cockpit) prior to departure time? I can't find the language or time. Thanks.

Kind of like the 2 hr. short call thing...that's also not in writing. There must have been an -event- which prompted your question, care to elaborate? |

I tend to agree. My point was that the existing rules are an improvement over the original sudden death rules, where a good kickoff return followed by a long FG ends the game.

OR...this would be fun; after the first 15 minute OT, each team MUST pull all their starters and play their BENCH for the next 15 minutes!:D And if it's still a tie, for the third 15 minute OT, they must put their water boy in as the QB, and play all their cheerleaders! (perhaps in a pit of jello and baby oil, at the 50yd. line!) |
That would make for some entertaining football!

I've never seen anything 'in writing' in the FOM about that, but the general concept has always been about 30 minutes, depending on late connection, etc. It's probably in the FOM vs. the contract.

I like the story about the new Captain getting OE. The LCA asks him, "so what are you going to do if your F/O shows up 10 minutes before departure?" The Captain's reply: "I don't care if he shows up before I do." :D
Just jump in the seat and yell; Checklist! |
