Just so you know there is a marked change on the Delta.com website when it comes to pilots.
We were not even accepting apps now we are! Look!

Pilots

Greater success and satisfaction are on the radar screen for professional aviators who land their talents at Delta. Ensuring that our passengers arrive at their destinations safely and on-time, our pilots earn their wings while helping our airline move full speed ahead.

Even though we are not actively hiring pilots and will not be reviewing applications until hiring resumes, individuals interested in joining our team of professional pilots may apply or update their existing applications via AirlineApps.com.

Visit Delta Pilot Basic Qualifications to view our basic requirements for pilot employment.

Just poking fun at the talk from this AM! :D

My guess is pending changes to rest rules, potentially going to over 12 hour ops on the 330's, pre-65 retirements, and some small degree of growth all combine to drive hiring before expected.

I am sure it is speculative in nature. They want to be ready for any changes that we may have to deal with!

Some semi-random thoughts and rumors.

While I was unable to vote in the atl elections, I was encouraged by the people who were running. I knew LD from a previous life - usaf. They say personality and character are set by the age of 8. When we worked together, I was always impressed with what a quality guy he was. I suspect he is still that same guy.

Rumors from the dark side are that the post soc bid will move some 767-400s to NYC and the jfk 777 base will be displaced while a dtw 777 base is opened. The rumor about 767er's moving to Seattle is not expected in this bid, but could happen (how's that for non-commital).

No aircraft orders. We can grow by pulling jets out of the desert. RA apparently said this in the last LCP meeting. In fact I think I was told that the wording was no aircraft orders for 4 years. Instead, his focus is on restructuring debt to smooth out the repayment schedule so DAL can budget $800M/year toward obligations.

I personally do believe we will be hiring in the spring.

Congratulations to all who ran. Thank you for your commitment.

How did it turn out? I couldn't get past about the 30 second mark, probably the stupidest thing I've ever downloaded from YouTube.

They are still on the fence on the ER to SEA but the rest sounds about right.
As for AC orders, I say yeah right. No orders, or no deliveries? Also not "New" aircraft orders. Also define new. Lawyers talks very carefully so pick apart how it was said.

I have a feeling that Larry will impress everyone.

For those DAL pilots who live in Michigan (and especially in the DTW/Ann Arbor area), the company just posted a memo on DeltaNet saying that University of Michigan Health System (UMHS) will be in-network starting in 2010.

For us who live in the the DTW/Ann Arbor area, this is great news. We found ourselves having to use out of network providers or drive some decent (for us at least) distances to use in-network hospitals.

Nice that Delta pulled through on this!
