Can this be done efficiently, or even at all without a West Coast 717 Base? You would think with a shuttle type of operation they would want a pilot base just to have some reserves available.
Also, 88 aircraft can easily support 4 Pilot Bases. Remember when we only had 16 MD-90s and the traveling MD-90 base? DFW then SLC then MSP and then finally absorbed into the 88 Bases when we purchased additional aircraft. What do you guys think, LAX 717 base or not? Scoop Either way, a 717 base west of the Rockies would be great..:D |

It's interesting to see Americans fleet plan numbers. Not that many more pilots but a quite a few more planes. I nice cache of widebodies to boot. I think even after retiring a number of aircraft they will still have well over 900 mainline airplanes. Anybody else have any numbers on this?
777-200: There are no planned changes to the 47 Boeing 777-200 aircraft in its fleet. 777-300ER: American will take delivery of one new aircraft in the first and fourth quarters of this year. With these two new additions, American will have 18 777-300ER aircraft in its fleet. AA-787-3 787-8: American is due to take delivery of three Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners every quarter of this year. If all goes according to plan, American will have a strong fleet of 12 787s by the end of the year. American Airlines' 2015 Fleet Plan About $19 Billion to pay for all those new 787's. |

To piggyback on this....Don't forget Carol talking about how they deserved the win against the Pack with the replacement referees. Worst call in history, ever! A decent coach would have said, "sometimes the call just goes your way and we'll take the win" or something like that. But he ranted on about how good they played against the Pack (they were outplayed the whole game) and that they totally deserved that victory (which they didn't). They only won because of replacement referee buffoonery! Karma is definitely a *****!

12484 on the seniority list now! That's 50 higher than we were at the seniority list integration in 2008.

Crazy. Here is an interesting question. Does anyone know the percentage of the list was furloughed during the bad times? Curious in yall humble opinion, when is someone "furlough proof"?

*i know past does not equal future, just looking for some opinions. At 9-11 we had about 10,000 Pilots and furloughed about 1100. This does not count the second round of Pilots which the company tried to furlough with a FM claim, but the arbitrator disagreed and they came back fairly quickly. Counting them would put the number at about 1300 as posted above. The company is very different now and in my opinion even a 9-11 type of event would not cause a 10% furlough for the following reasons: - Huge retirements coming up. - We are now a much leaner operation. - back then we had FEs that were slowly converting to FOs. The 9-11 event greatly accelerated the FE retirements. I would say 1000 pilots below is a good safety cushion. That said, never say never. Scoop |

Either way, a 717 base west of the Rockies would be great..:D True, but those gates are already supporting the RJs on the shuttle. We would just replace the RJs with Mainline. :) Scoop |
