If the LAX 717 comes to fruition - I am putting the over/under on the bottom LAX 717A at 7500. Scoop The SYD trip pays 38 and blocks 28, the west coast guys show up night of departure and fly a 38 hour 3 day trip twice a month (6 days work) with a 24 hour layover in SYD. If there was a LAX 777 base, they'd only be paid the 28 block, and have to fly one more trip to make a line. Do you know how much it would suck to have to work 9 days a month?? :eek: The company would love to eliminate all that paid DH time, of course. And as soon as they put the 777 into LAX, Network will change the 777 trips and the LAX guys will DH to SEA or JFK or MSP or DTW or ATL to fly from there! |

I suppose not a whole lot, if 25A/25B would be it for a while, as that'd be 5% of the total 717 pilots (once fully staffed for 88 or 92). Think 50 total pilots would be sustainable in one base? It would be about half the size of DTW. Comparatively a lot more awesome for the west coast or those who want out west! |
