The NMB just tossed out the machinist's application to have a union vote among the flight attendants. Too many forged signatures.
I think this bodes well for our hopes of a contract before the amendable date.
Management can devote their full attention to our issues now.

They didn't honor the crayon signatures?

Paranoid? I had a jumpseater that was just violated in a very similar situation. The crew missed an altitude and all 3 were violated, including the jumpseater. Be careful out there.

I'd love to hear the full story on this one, if indeed, you spoke to one of the crewmembers involved. Seems like a rogue fed or a tall tale.

It's not the crayon signatures that were the problem. It was that half of the signatures were just an "X" on the line.

Interesting retort, but yes I did talk with a crewmember involved. It all started when I offered him (the jumpseater) my overhead speaker for the flight and he asked for a headset. I was curious why he wanted one and that set off the story of him being violated. I knew him before he showed up for the jumpseat, so I have no reason not to believe him. I don't know the fed involved and I don't know what the final outcome of the violation was. Just putting out some information so it doesn't happen to the next guy.

I'll second that that's a crap violation for a multitude of reasons unless he was actively distracting the crew.

I agree that there is a lot of abuse by gate agents, and it probably takes a watchful Captain, a good agent, and the right set of circumstances before anyone should even consider giving up their PS seat. I guess guys shouldn't be the [deleted] while trying to be a hero, but all things being equal, it would nice to be the hero to some non-rev if no pilot is harmed during the evolution.

I wonder if the solution to this is not for the PS pilot to have a discussion with the Captain? It's his JS. If a PS pilot on the way in, mentioned to the Captain that they can sit there instead, then the Captain can try to make it work if they are so inclined, and they have a better shot at getting cooperation from the agent.

Sink, I love ya man, but I got denied a J/S I had reserved when a DH pilot showed nup and took it before I showed at the gate to get a REVENUE pax on. The agent told me it was her JS, until I called Crew Scheduling and had her set straight by a scheduling supervisor.

Now that is utter crap.

I've only done it once- I walked up to the gate house and made sure there were no jumpseaters, and then verified the captain was aware of the situation was ok with it
