Personal observation after 8 years -- it's closer to 1%. (0.5% after they fly with me )

While I have seen a couple of captains (appropriately) calling out FAs for poor performance, never once have I seen one "talk down" to them in an obnoxious, arrogant manner.

It seems to me that perhaps you ought to look a little closer in the mirror and ask yourself if you are looking in all the wrong places for people with "issues" or if the issues are creations of your own imagination.
No, they're here. I've seen it too. And it isn't his imagination.

There is one A on the 717 that lost it on a ramper on his first trip off oe and first leg. Ramper I believe got off the tug. FO has been telling the story to a lot of people but not sure the base.

But I flew with a few guys on the 88 that yelled at rampers and we're rough on the FAs. Just picking fights all of the time with everyone.

in fact I'll be honest, I saw more than a few with very lousy social and flight ops behavior on ATL88A in 5 years on it. and ive never saw anything remotely like it on the ER or 717.

And I hear it from many many ATL88Bs. Emphasize many. Some think it's 10%, others say 40%, and all of them are good people so they're not the common denominator. Id say 20-25% is a fair number. I've always thought that the reason for that was it was the junior plane in atlanta and attracted those upgrade asap types where you have a larger percentage of world revolves around me personalities.

But what I tell atl88 newbies who talk to me about it is that when you fly with a good 88 captain, that's what is normal and indicative of the rest of the airline.

I hear stories from As about miserable Bs too, and you realize they're going to one day be As and drive everyone nuts.

Funny thing is I flew with a 717A that made me miserable only to find out from another 717A that that particular bad apple drove every captain nuts on their previous plane.

It's a people thing, not a captain or FO thing, it's just inevitable with 12000 pilots some are going to be miserable to be around and for some reason some airplanes are accumulators for those kinds of people.

I mean if that wasn't the case then I guess they could remove the avoid employee # on pbs.

I don't know what the percent on guys who suck to fly with, but I know some categories have more than others. I have been on the NYC88B, ATLDC9B, ATL88B and now I'm ATLER. By far the biggest percent of jerks are on the ATL 88. In NYC there were two weird guys I flew with. I flew with an LCA who was a jerk on the 9. On the ER there has been one weird guy but he was nice. On the 88 in ATL though I flew with two guys who would yell at everybody. The Hermenator was the better of the two. I ended up getting off the trip and talking to prostans about one of them. Besides those two there were a lot of other guys who were minor jerks. 25% might be a lot but I would say at least 10%. Ironically I flew with Capt Happy and I enjoyed flying with him and thought he was a nice guy.

In all seriousness, good to know I am not the only one who has witnessed this stuff.
Yep. In fact we should probably disband pro standards and the asap program because we don't need it.

Care to answer to Carl's claim that you were a rep for 2012 that you claimed wasn't true?
Active dates would clarify who's right.

On that note, I wonder if there's any kind of retribution if you're on too many no fly lists? I've heard other airlines have a system that eventually flags these people and administers some wallet hurt. Also, I understand the reasoning why only FOs get to avoid emp# but I think it's only fair that captains should get to avoid "me" too.

I've always wondered why captains don't get to do that. Ive heard plenty of stories where captains have handed the fo a piece of paper with their employee number and said please put me on your no fly list. I think thats awesome.

but here's a question, if you are denied a trip because it'd be with a guy on your no fly list, what does the reasons report say?

and if there is a rule of thumb on too many no fly lists it's definitely never going to be made public. But bad apples are well known in the cpo from what I've been told. And I have a feeling they've got bad crm and with bad crm comes more asaps.

Good thing you're not posting them here. Decorum dictates a very high standard for pictures on APC.

No accidents, please. Wardrobe malfunctions may be allowed, on a case-by-case basis.
