Shinnitz is posting again. Something must be brewing. And that something won't be good for line pilots.

It's automatic. It will show on your paystub in the top right corner. When you turn in your medical. They put it in the system. I don't think there's anywhere to check prior to getting paid. It should show on your PAS.

How exactly are there 744 and 777 FO instructors who can't touch it senioritywise?
What happens when they "go back to the line?" How do they bid for a schedule they can't hold? |

You have two buddies on the 777 INS list.... ;)
And the other one would be a great instructor to get as well! :D |

Tis true, but I only knew how one got there. But yes, I do have two.

Purple is understandably concerned with instructors being so junior that they can't hold their airplanes, but the fact is it's hard to find good instructors. When he runs a fleet he can do whatever makes sense, but for now they want to find the best people they can regardless of seniority. We all had lousy instructors. Sometimes I give checkrides and the pilot's voice would be shaking as he does the briefing - probably had bad experiences before in training. Fleet capts are trying to minimize that. |
