So I have another question for you all. I was able to drop a 4 day trip and now there is a trip with a "q" next to it with another FO on it that I would like to pick up. However when I go to the Icrew swap board it does not show. How do I go about picking up this trip? Do I put in a white slip?

Section 23... ws... if your number one requesting it, you'll get it on the noon pcs run.

Kudos to those who really learn their contract and fly it to maximum effect...

Due to my stagnant seniority, I've been dropping my entire schedule for over ten years and have been able to greatly improve my time off and pay... it sure has beaten ten years of flying all weekends, holidays and redeyes, that my seniority would have afforded me!

Advice for all newbies:

Learn section 23 backwards and forwards... this is the bread and butter of your every day working life. It really isn't difficult... just take it one sentence at a time.

Also, whenever you are getting ready to do something you haven't done for awhile, read and fully understand that section. I.e., bidding vacation, bidding an AE, etc... I flew with two FOs last year that missed their coast to coast paid moves because they didn't know a VD entitled them to said move... that cost them thousands of dollars!

Bottom line... fly your negotiated contract to maximum personal effect!

Bon Chance!

P.s., Removed quote because this really applied to several posters.

100% agree. If it's allowed in the contract it's nobody else's business! I have dropped down to 33 hours next month and am going to OOB WS ATL to fill up. I will also keep a GS in for NYC. Under my Ws prefs I put in for no more than 1 leg a day max of 2 days for trip length. I also put in that trip must layover in JAX, MCO, TPA, SRQ, RSW, PNS. Then pref#2 is same as above but layovers in FLL, MIA, RDU, SAT, AUS, and DAB. It works like a champ.

I agree 1000%. I think some people care way too much what other people are doing, I specifically bid weekends off over commutable (if I can't get both) because it's easier to drop trips. Learn the system and use it to your advantage!

Hey! Since I was the one that opened up the can'o'worms, let me say firstly, (?) I was referring to the SENIOR guys who bid all the primo PBS trips and then dump them like they were trash!

THEY should be allowed to bid blank lines so the juniorites can get the good trips without jumping thru the "checking what trips the senior guys got" and then WS......

Truly, sometimes there are better ways!

I was just awarded a new jet, same base in this AE. I looked through the PWA, but I am a little unclear on when I will begin earning the new equipment's pay rate. When would I start getting the new aircraft's hourly rate?

When the training letter comes out it in a week or so, it will have your training date and your conversion date.

You will get paid your present aircraft rate until your conversion month flying. Depending on timing, you can sometimes get thru training quickly and be paid your current aircraft rate on IOE on your new aircraft flying.

There are also bidding strategeries when you are in training to max pay.

Mike,

How close are you to system plug captain?

Ghillis,

Same question.

I'm around 11,800 and missed the lowest captain by ~1000, coincidentally I'm ~1000 above the company-wide plug. Why do you ask?
