Just for reference. It's been a long decade of nothing or crap for many of us. I'm hoping that is over for guys in your generation.

I haven't been to training in almost 10 years. So, I'll wait for a real expert to post what the latest strategies are.

Thanks for the well wishes, I hope so too :). I'm probably going to bid QoL over money in the near term. Once the kids are out of the house maybe I'll go back to NYC for the big monies.

This information about "Bidding during Months of Training" is on the D-ALPA website. Just log-in with your credentials and search for PBS Notepad 14-07.

Perfect, thanks! This was very helpful. I am assuming (uh-oh!) that you are paid the hourly rate of the new equipment after you are "converted" (i.e. either the first of the month for training completed on or prior to the 16th or the first of the next month for training after 16th).

e.g. If I finish sim training (not OE) on December 12th, then all of my hours credited for December are credited at the new rate.
Do I have that right?

How exactly are there 744 and 777 FO instructors who can't touch it senioritywise?

What happens when they "go back to the line?" How do they bid for a schedule they can't hold?

I had an instructor in my last CQ who couldn't hold it. IIRC, he was instructing in some other plane and they needed instructors and asked him, or he volunteered.

I think I remember him saying he bids on his flying month the same as everyone else and usually ended up on reserve. However, there are plenty of months on he 777 where you could build 6-7 more lines with the open time. So, he may get trips.

Elliot's link is what you need to read and understand.

But in a nutshell, no. Your pay conversion date is listed on the training letter and has no relationship to when you finish sims or OE. It will start at the beginning of a month.

I flew with captain once who did nearly all of their OE on the 88 while still being paid at wb FO rates.

Bottom line the Alpa gouge tells you what you need to know to maximize your benefit and use of shadow bidding etc.

Has anybody used Deltacargo.com? I remember in indoc them telling us that once we were with the company over a year we got a fairly substantial discount on their services. I need to ship 4 or 5 boxes from SLC to DCA and was wondering if anybody has any experience. Thanks.
