Buddy pass: $414 round trip. Fly for even "Less" : $440! Delta.com was $385 for all middle seats. Ended up booking on Orbitz, all aisle or window seats for $381 round trip, including Orbits fee and assigned seats. Tried getting through to a human in reservations...after 45 min on hold gave up.

Will never give out a buddy pass again not waste time on Delta.com.

I understand our customers frustrations.

I concur. However if booked several months out, the fly confirmed for less can be up to 60-70% off the cheapest flights you can fly otherwise. Close to date of travel they are sometimes worse than the regular fares.

747 Non Reving

For those who want to non rev domestically on the 747 before it retires, it will fly 2 round trip ATL-MSP segments (4 flights) on November 29.

Non-Rev....ON PURPOSE? ;-)

Buddy Pass is what you do to someone, not what you give to someone.

Hypothetical scheduling question

Hypothetical: If you have a trip on your schedule, starting with a DH-only day, is the rest required prior to report affected at all?

Example: say your report is 1200 on a DH-only day. Could you WS/GS/PS/SWP or get IA for something releasing on that day, 1159 or earlier?

My best guess: by the FARs, no rest required--the DH-only day has no FDP associated with it. By PWA, maybe--I can't find it, but I seem to recall some language (mostly outdated, given Pt 117) about minimum rest before report. By company policy, probably no-go--as much as RRs get treated as airport standby, CS probably wants you to have 10+ hours prior a DH-only report, so that you have a legal FDP "just in case"....

What say the braintrust?

Is there ever any discussion of improving/changing buddy pass travel? Can something like that be negotiated in the next TA?

I'm sorry but I'm not willing to give up one penny of negotiating money for improvements in this area.

Hopefully no one is wasting a second of time on this "benefit." First, pass travel is not a negotiated benefit. Pass travel is not in our contract. It is something offered to all employees. Why would you want the union to spend capital negotiating something on behalf of other employee groups? Do other employees pay dues?

Anything we negotiate for in our TA regarding pass privileges is being negotiated for the entire employee group.
