If your boarding pass says 1p then you are js. If it has actual seat assigned then you are nonrev.
As to cnb's post, a jumps eater doesn't have to occupy the jumpseat if they are a jumpseater, we often have multiple jumps eaters with 1 listed on the WDR, and they all sit in back if there are seats available. |

To be completely honest, I commute (not for long yay!) so I list for JS a LOT and I have never once had a captain ask me to sit in the jumpseat because it said 1P(and yes I always check in!), and it ALWAYS says 1P, they never roll me to non-rev, not once has that ever happened to me despite that the FOM says that they will. But its definitely your prerogative as a captain to say they must sit in the jumpseat if you are concerned it will affect W&B.

I fully understand how the system works. If I list for the jumpseat, they give me a 1P pass, then sometimes when I go to get on the airplane, they hand me a seat card, I still say hi just in case the gate agent didn't remove me from the js or for whatever reason I show up on the WDR as a js'er. I don't always trust them to take care of everything when they are often by themselves and under tremendous pressure to get the flight out on time.

I don't think you understand. Did you read what I said? It is not the prerogative of the captain where the jumpseater sits in the CASE I stated. The FOM is very clear on this. It is very easy "stay at gate performance" = 1P in the actual jumpseat. All other scenarios 1P sits wherever I don't care. The beauty of it is I don't have to care why! I just do it because it is a hard rule.
You're right, I missed that part. I was skimming your post and I got caught speeding. Sorry for my comment. |
Underboob please
