There will be some concessions with any contract negotiations. New hire seat locks are about dead last on my priority list. right there with new hire hotels.

It doesn't affect me...screw the new guys. I would have been much better off if we hadn't traded anything away to eliminate it, since I did all 5 years on it before it was reduced and then finally eliminated, but I knew we had to get rid of it. Then we started a whole new B Scale, with Express. Then a whole new C Scale, with the RJ's. Then a whole new D Scale, with the lost pensions. We have always been doing the, "One step forward, two steps back" dance. When are we going to learn to say FUPM? |

It doesn't affect me...screw the new guys. Right on Q Ball.....you will see less new hires come to the company because potential DAL new hires will go to another airline that doesn't have a B scale. In fact, if you make it a 2 year seat lock, we will virtually get no new hires. Why would new hires come to DAL to only get regional pay for two years. Keep that selfish attitude of, "It doesn't affect me", because it will when we can't staff the airline in 2-3 years. Way to go buddy.....keep thinking only two feet in front of you. Be a good little boy and believe everything you hear from mgmt. Heck why shouldn't a new hire go to United or American.....at those companies they actually do their own wide body flying. Here at Delta we give our flying away. Delta has 18 777s....United and AA have double and triple the amounts of those jets. Oh look....Delta just announced more Pittsburgh to Paris flights......in a 757. Who needs wide bodies? DAL doesn't. |

Now Hotels for new hires I don't care either. |

But you know what? It will never happen. Reading the last few CR newsletters have convinced me of that. NO LAX 777 Base! Wait, YES, a WEEK LATER! But ONLY CAPTAINS! Wait, MAYBE FO's! E190's in SEATTLE! That we WEREN'T GETTING 3 weeks ago! A350's in DTW. No, ATL, No, SEA, wait, maybe LAX. Who can plan a life around any of this??? Q: Are we retiring the 757's? A: YES, wait, NO, wait, SOME, WE WON'T BACKFILL. Wait, We WILL BACKFILL...
It's a page right out of Mike Campbell's labor-busting playbook. We must stress with new hires that management is NOT our friend. And by God, get Dickson out of ALPA yesterday. I don't want that guy as a union "brother." |

I posted this before but no one responded so I'll try again re-wording hoping some scheduling guru can help me out. Trying to maximize my shadow day credit:
My PBS calendar shows training ending on February 9th. I know that I have a day off on February 6th. Therefore I think I should be able to bid a 3 day on the 10th, or a 4 day with 30 hours rest built in. My PBS calendar however does not show days off, does anyone know if when PBS awards are processed if it looks at my day off on the 6th? Thanks to anyone who can answer this, I emailed alpa and they gave me a response with some generic shadow bidding guidelines and said I could bid a trip on the 10th, but didn't specifically answer my rest question. |

Since you were hired you have seen nothing but huge growth. It has been great. The guys that got hired right before you stagnated for several years. Before that guys got laid off. The best way to avoid that for you is if Delta keeps hiring. Reducing the amount of pilots going through training reduces the amount they need below you. That means you are closer to getting laid off. I am loving the growth and I don't want anything to slow it down, because of that staffing consessions are a no go from me. I get what you are saying about negotiations but seems like we have given enough.
Now Hotels for new hires I don't care either. the fact that I list new hire seat locks or hotels less important than other concessions makes me want a B scale or means I don't give a crap about the new hires? Come on now. |
PVAC awards are out.
