Interesting strategy. So are you recommending dropping a trip, using PB days to get paid, then WSing the same trip and just putting those hours into the bank? Essentially getting 5:15 instead of 3:30 a day? Only flaw is my category rarely has blue days, it is tough to drop a trip.
The problem is you have to have good reserve coverage to PD the trip first. Here's the cliff notes version of best use of those days that you didn't use by Dec 31st. They go into your supp vacation days bank and you can tag them onto vacation which makes them worth 3:15 each. They are still available to use as payback days until the end of March, but since Delta IT is so advanced, you can't use them like normal PB days once the year is over. You have to first PD a trip or a reserve day if coverage is good enough. Once you PD the trip, call scheduling and tell them you want to use your PB days in the supp vac bank to pay you for the PD. They will do it for you and it will show as TOFF on your schedule. Worst case scenario in this situation your PB day is worth 5:15. If you are good, you can usually get 6-7 hours out of them which is double what you get if you use it as a supp vacation day. Off course if reserve coverage is bad and you can't PD anything before the end of March, you are stuck with getting 3:15 each out of them. |
Does credit time count against max pick up? I'm trying to pick up a trip with some credit. Total block is under my max pick up but with credit, it's higher than my max pick up. Will DBMS give me the trip?

Another strategy, if reserves are good in your category, is to pick-up a shorter time trip, then when it's on your line, swap it for the higher time trip you're wanting to fly. |

No. Another strategy, if reserves are good in your category, is to pick-up a shorter time trip, then when it's on your line, swap it for the higher time trip you're wanting to fly. 1). Pick up a trip at premium pay, 2) Stay home and enjoy your spouse, kids, hobbies, etc. 01 January 2016 Omar |
As long as reserve coverage is good, you can drop any trip and get paid for it via your payback days. You do need to realize that the dropped trip counts toward your credit for the month (If you use PB days to cover it). If you don't have the max pickup to white slip before dropping a trip with PB days, you won't have it after the PB drop either.

For grins I checked all 4 717 bases on the FO side for the month of January. A whopping 2 blue days combined between the 4 bases, 27 and 28 Jan in DTW. Those PB days will be 3:15 vacation...

Hey has anyone mentioned the crew resources newsletter and the paragraph talking about the emb190? Looks like SEA will be getting them.
