I have not non-revved out of there, but have operated in and out of there. The airport is pretty small, so even if they hold you at the ticket counter until check-in is closed (60 mins prior to departure for most int'l cities) you'll have plenty of time to get to the boarding area. No jetways, so once they board, you just walk out to the airplane from a central boarding lounge.
On arrival, you can make your life a LOT easier if everyone in your party has USD$10 bill on them. They collect a shakedown--pardon me, an "entry tax," payable (only?) in USD, $10 bucks per person, cash. I have no idea what they do for anyone not showing up with cash or needing more change than what they have available. Worked out where you're staying yet? The crew hotel is a pretty good deal: you get the room for $77 (DL discount), and all-inclusive bracelets for $20 per person--whatever taxes are included, so, that boils down to an all-inclusive hotel on the beach for $117 / nt for two people out the door. If you're staying for more than a long weekend, you'll probably get stir crazy and want to get off property, but it was perfect for the three days we were there. The only ways to spend money on the property that we found: 1) casino; 2) spa; 3) gift shop; 4) bottled wine (the house wine, red or white, is included; a bottle is a separate charge). IIRC, it was about $35 each way in the cab each way to/from the hotel. |
I know there is a section on APC discussing EZ Bid but it was a little out dated, so forgive the topic change.
Does any one have a suggestion about bidding software. I was considering EZ Bid. I am primarily looking for something that would notify me new trips are placed into open time. I currently have Icrew Max and its OK but I was looking for something that would alert me, plus Icrew Max has not been updating several of their hotels or layover info. Thanks BFS |
Widget Works, which is part of the Flightline suite including EZ bid is good for open time notifications. New categories (ie LAX 777A, NYC 330) aren't added very quickly to the open time notifications though.

Air Asia Final Report
Just read the report. Looks like an almost exact replication of the AF 447 crash. Autopilot malfunction followed by a roll, then full nose up stick by the copilot until impact. The aircraft zoomed to FL385 from 340 then stalled. Looks like the Captain, who was highly experienced, was making the correct inputs. Any Airbus drivers care to comment?

Does not seem like AF, other than they got it into a stall. |
Yo, is it possible to drop a day off if you are in reserve? I keep trying and it says "violates off day requirements" is this saying that I can't have anymore days off? Or that I need to have 4 days straight? I've read through the PWA and I can't find what it means. I've also called scheduling and she told me I could drop single on call days but that obviously isn't the case. Anyone know what the rules are to be able to drop reserve days? Or are you just stuck with the amount and have to move X days around? Thanks dudes

If that was the case, the inputs are summed which would result in a neutral nose up command, obviously not what you would want if attempting to recover from an upset. If the captain wanted sole control, he could push a side stick priority button on the stick which would give him sole control and override the copilots side stick. The biggest difference between this and a Boeing is you can't feel or see what the other pilot is doing. You can override the other stick though. |
Two observations from various news reports:
1) different nationality CA/FO (Indonesian CA and French FO). One report stated that the captain repeatedly said "Pull down" and the FO said (in 'his native language') "What is going wrong?" (language barrier issues???). 2) CA and FO were making contradictory inputs into the side-stick controls (similar to 447 report). The FO's control remained “mostly at maximums pitch up” (WSJ report) while "the report indicates the captain also was manipulating his control stick almost from the instant the stall warning activated to the time flight-data recording ended." (same WSJ report) The FAA recommends (and most carriers require) a 'Positive transfer of control' to avoid this exact scenario. Reading the various reports, it sounds as if it is AirAsia's policy that the CA take the controls in a flight emergency, but the CVR indicates that a 'positive transfer' never took place. Edit: I was unable to find the actual report text either. I looked at the reports from WSJ.com, AP, ABC, NBC, and CNN. They all had their 'experts' on video and similar text reports. |
Deadseal,
Little confused, you trying to drop an x day? As in work more? Or are you trying to drop a res day--as in work less? |
