Out of curiosity- Are there any commuters in the training center? Do they allow that?

I had heard they didn't let instructors commute. Further more, with the scheduling is it relatively easy to do if so? Thanks for the insight.

I had a jumpseat ing instructor goin into ATL a few weeks back that after 3 months regretted taking the position due to the number of sims per month( 17?) and the commute. It's great if you live in ATL.

Yes, they allow instructors to commute. Depending on the fleet, the schedulers will try to build a descent schedule for commuters. Some fleets are better than others. There are some who commute in from far away as Anchorage. C48 had been trying to get PS for commuting instructors, but I think that "Cooperation" died with the failed TA. DGS gets positive space. Commuters have to pay for their own hotel and/or crashpad.

I thought they could book the Jumpseat earlier, too.

At NWA, sim instructors would get PS to MSP and hotels paid for. Can't remember if they got per diem but might have. Lost a lot of good instructors when that changed.

Pretty sure instructors can book the Jumpseat early, but it doesn't sound like a commuter-friendly lifestyle.

I'm not sure why anyone would choose to be a sim instructor unless they live in ATL. No per diem. No international override. No layovers in Europe/NYC/SFO ...

Plus you actually have to talk for 6 hours. :eek:

Our CQ instructor (commuter) said they can book jumpseat 10 days prior going to work. Got the impression normal rules apply for going home. Can't fathom why anyone would do it.
