Yo, is it possible to drop a day off if you are in reserve? I keep trying and it says "violates off day requirements" is this saying that I can't have anymore days off? Or that I need to have 4 days straight? I've read through the PWA and I can't find what it means. I've also called scheduling and she told me I could drop single on call days but that obviously isn't the case. Anyone know what the rules are to be able to drop reserve days? Or are you just stuck with the amount and have to move X days around? Thanks dudes

Look at your bid package for the rules. On my category for instance you are only allowed to have 3 "off" periods, and each on period must have at least 4 days on, so in general you can't drop an on day in the middle of a 9 day spurt if you already have 3 "off" periods assigned.
If I try and drop a day that creates a new "off" period beyond 3, thats when PCS says "violates off day req".

I'm trying to work less, thanks for any help

Assuming you're on the ER, bid package shows 4-99-4. Where the first 4 is the min num of days on you can have. The 99 is basically meaningless (we can be on call forever, sweet!), the last 4 is the min number of off day groupings.

I'm having a little trouble visualizing your schedule/predicament which makes giving you a useful answer more difficult. I'm assuming you would be getting a random day off that would be your 5th group of day off groupings. Never had that issue. In my case, I've run into the min days on when trying to drop/change. It would have created too small a group of days on.

As long as you have a res group of more than 4 days, you should be able to drop something at beginning or end of that grouping without a problem--if manning allows.

Does any one have a suggestion about bidding software. I was considering EZ Bid. I am primarily looking for something that would notify me new trips are placed into open time.

I currently have Icrew Max and its OK but I was looking for something that would alert me, plus Icrew Max has not been updating several of their hotels or layover info.

Thanks

You don't need any programs at all to get open time alerts, just a subscription to Flightline. You can access their website directly and put in your alert criteria. You can specify text messages, email or both.

They are slow to put in new categories. I spoke to their help desk the other day, and they said that they generally won't bother with new categories until someone requests it.

Thanks, I think I'm starting to understand....I swear the hardest part of this job is trying to figure out all these rules regarding pbs and pcs etc...the PWA is almost as hard to read as 11-217 (usaf book on instrument flying)
I was making a 5th "days off grouping"
Again thanks

If that was the case, the inputs are summed which would result in a neutral nose up command, obviously not what you would want if attempting to recover from an upset.
If the captain wanted sole control, he could push a side stick priority button on the stick which would give him sole control and override the copilots side stick.

The biggest difference between this and a Boeing is you can't feel or see what the other pilot is doing. You can override the other stick though.

I got it straight off the indonesian NTSC site. It's a comprehensive report. Without going into too much detail, the aircraft went into alternate law when the Captain tried to reset some stuff. The copilot responded to the autopilot disconnect and subsequent roll by leveling back out, then applying full aft stick until the aircraft impacted the ocean after entering a deep stall. The media is focused on the wrong thing. The captain fought him all the way down with opposite input, but I guess you have to hold that button for 40 seconds or something to gain complete authority? I don't know, not an Airbus guy.

Do you have a link to the site?

I think when the real reason hits the press, there's going to be hell to pay in Toulouse. They are going to have a field day with this.
