To pile on to Sputnik's reply, you can't violate the reserve rules but PBS/DAL can. This generally happens when you're junior and you get stuck working on days you don't want to work due to coverage requirements. I've been given single days of reserve; typically at the beginning of the month, on holidays, or weekends when coverage is inadequate.

In your case, if those 4 days are all you really care about then you could just bid "prefer off" for those 4 days and let PBS take care of the rest. You can add extras like "prefer weekends off" or "set condition" and then tell PBS how many days you'd like to work in a row followed by how much time off you'd like.

You can use the command 'all or nothing, else start next bid group' if you want to try several different iterations of days off. You just have to make sure that your last line in PBS drops the 'all or nothing' command.

Yes, you can. But as Leine said, by the second or third time it gets very confusing, so usually you need a scheduling supervisor, or help from the ALPA sked guy to help push it thru. If its a high-dollar one day, and no one senior to you snakes it thru a WhiteSlip - go for it!

That's working the system. Just be prepared to fly it, or to lose it, and then to follow up with the phone call to get paid for when you want.

Denny, they're correct, PBS doesn't have to give you four day of on-call at the beginning of the month - just ask for the days off that you HAVE to have, then some extra, nice-to-have prefs after that and let it worry about whether it wants to give you less than four days or not. It often will give you orphan days

In my bid I think I have accounted for this possibility. I'm bidding a regular line first with "prefer off else start next" for 5,6,7,8. Then in the next (reserve) bid group I do the same thing with "5,6,7,8 else start next" on the first line and don't bid 2,3,4 off. Line two of that group is the rest of the days off I want. Bid group 3 (reserve) is bidding 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 off with no "else start next."

I think I've got it covered. Time will tell!:eek::D

You have to have 4 days on call if that's what your cat req. it can spill, but it needs to be 4 days of reserve. Apd and sims can change that. That has been my experience thus far

If it's a spill over trip, it's a trap, and they will change it faster than lightning turning it into a serious POS:mad:

Oh no, it was in the second week of April.

Just a stunning amount of credit and barely any block for a domestic narrowbody 5-day.

So got a pay question for anyone who's already on the 330. I'm converting to it in September and will be on reserve. Does the reserve guarantee include the international override since it's a pure international jet or no?? Thanks in advance!!
