I'd rather earn less and spend time with my family while they are young. You have made that choice, knowing the rules. No quibbling

My bad...I'll first PM you my thoughts in the future, and you can let me know if I have a legitimate complaint next time.

I'm not sure what relevance your family time has with my daydream of GS eligibility in a monthI pull some Guard duty, but I spend more time with my young family than just about any working father I know.

Quick question. I had 2 5 day trips back to back. Because of reroutes and delays during snowpocolypse I ran into a fdp problem. Now I do one turn on day 1 of the second 5 day and I was removed from the rest of the rotation. Am I pay protected for the lost 4 days? Thanks.

Does anyone know how many credits a single reserve day is? Just wondering if I call in sick over a 4 day stretch of reserve how much sick time it will burn. Thanks.

I'm sorry, it just sounded like you were complaining about a process of which you knew full well of before you committed to. My bad.

You get paid to be at your mil job. That is "premium pay". You get delta benefits and don't fly a full delta schedule. Most of the reservists I know also fully utilize the mloa. They know exactly what they are dropping and when. It's all good and I get it, but it's a little silly to ask for sympathy cause you can't get premium pay when you don't fly a full schedule. It's quibbling plain and simple

It varies based on reserve guarantees and number of on call days in a month.

Yes but you might (I personally don't think so and don't feel like looking it up) be subject to 23k recovery flying.

Double dipping? Really? I'd say it was well earned and deserved. I sincerely hope this isn't the prevalent attitude of the 4th floor that you usually parrot. Guessing you never served, or sacrificed and stuck it out to earn a reserve retirement. At best it will minimally offset the loss of pensions that we were subjected to.

The military guys who really lost were those who drilled prior to the D.C. Plan. They had the DB plan converted to cash and PBGC with no credit at all for lost retirement FAE on the PBGC part and lost cash on the rest. Currently you get full retirement DC money while on mil leave and full credit toward the military pension plan. It's a far better deal then the reservists had in the past.
