Thanks. Specifically I am concerned about the placement of these days. I did not see any drop down menus related to placement of these days.

Is there any limitation on placement, other than directly before or after an existing vacation? I am trying to place them in front of a late September vacation so no holiday issues involved.

Thanks Scoop

Might have to call the CPSC for that. I've only placed them for the initial vacation bid, not after.

Just did this myself. Once you buy the days in iCrew call DAL vacation section to have them placed. Two gotchas. First, don't remove the bought days in iCrew after, and second, I think you have thru this week to complete, but don't quote me on this. If you need the # I can PM you. Cheers.

Excellent point. If I recall correctly (big "if"), prior to Apil 1, it's "ask and ye shall receive." Thereafter, it's based on Crew Resources discretion and availability (big difference). I found a few purchased days to be a powerful tool to get credit where it needs to be, in order to possibly not bid at all, or have that "perfect trip" complete the month ... bottom line is, it can be the difference between getting into the credit window with ease, or not, during your your vacation month.

I'm about to go noncurrent. I filled out the I crew template giving days of availability for training. The training is not going to happen before noncurrent.

Questions:

Can this cost me money?
Am I required to notify anyone?
Any techniques. I'm on reserve with a bunch of xxx days going forward.

Thanks

I find this all really frustrating and these are just the headlines of the week (KLM just started flying in to MSP this week). Air France also does MSP-CDG daily. We all know Delta can hold off on buying WB planes because of all of the JVs going on. Seems like there's a beginning of the end for a lot of the RJs...when will the focus shift to these massive deals that allows Delta to farm out flying to these other carriers?

WRT to the SEA-LHR flying, you're only seeing one side of the story.

Guys,

FYI. This worked great. After buying the days a drop down template becomes available allowing you to place your days directly in front of/behind your existing vacations.

It was automatically approved on I-crew, but as others mentioned after April 1 you may have to request placement vice having them automatically awarded. Additionally, I did not have any holiday conflicts, so not sure how that would work.

Thanks for all the info and the PMs. :)

Just to piggyback on....if you want extra vacation days, it is imperative you do it before 1 Apr. Before that date they can award those additional days easily for most vacation year (I'm sure holidays are tougher)...If you wait until the vacation year starts, my experience is that they will not allow you to buy additional days until they know there is adequate coverage for that day. Meaning you'll have to wait until after the bid awards come out for that month.

BTW. I always purchase a day on the front side and one on the back of my vacation, so I am sure to have both weekends off completely. Then it's easy to tack additional weekdays off during the bidding process. Works great for a junior lineholder that would otherwise get a coverage award right up to the start of your vacation. YMMV.

Not to mention our overall flying to the U.K. Is up 25% since the JV started. In addition those passengers arriving on Virgin connect on Delta creating domestic jobs.
