In was blessed with short call tomorrow afternoon/PM on Turkey Day. Is there a web site or somewhere to see when the last flight departs a hub on your specific airframe? I have a feeling I will still be on short call long after the last of my fleet departs base and I was hoping for some intel to help me possibly get released early.

At first, I thought that I could just check the bid package but there may be flights from other bases moving through my base.

Thanks,
Humbolt

All that will have no bearing on Crew Scheduling. There will likely be flights with crews from other bases going through your base. There can be overflights than divert into your base, MX problems that delay a flight for hours that they have to recrew using you. They could deadhead on on a different airplane type to an outstation to cover a flight out in the morning. Etc etc.

Scheduling won't let you go any earlier than 2 hours before you are done....which really isn't a favor because they can't really use you then anyways.

Ahh, but they can. You can fly four hours beyond the end of a 12 hour short call in many cases. I'd take the 2 hour early release and feel pretty good about it.

Technically just 2 hours unless you agree to extend 2 more hours right? I think an extension in that scenario would be a very poor choice. Extensions are for duty days that get delayed for whatever reason.....not a reserve guy working 2 more hours.

Negative, deadhead does not count towards the fdp. Ask me how I know this. 4am shortcall start, 1pm flight, second leg a deadhead, 18 hour day from the 4am start. Under this rule, they could deadhead you right at the end according to alpa guy. Frankly I was sort of shocked/****ed that we don’t have PWA protection from this.

Hmm......well that sucks. Another FAR 117 surprise. Kinda like getting 3 5-day domestic trips back to back. Ask me how I know that can happen. I'm sure glad they used science to figure out those rules. Not sure what kind of science, but at least it was science.

Here's another gem that made me wonder.

DH on red-eye SLC-MCO. Sit 90 minutes. Operate flight to JFK. All legal because of the DH. That is more of a contractual gem, but still a pile of crap. It was a GS so I did it with a smile, but that JFK flight was a tough one even all hopped up on Red Bull and Cappuccinos. Would have went to a SC guy had they had one......no thanks.

I got Released almost 5 hours early once. I didn’t ask a lot of questions, just turned the phone off and left.

That’s nice. And thanks. Most crews I went there with did call it the free wine place. In Rome, we used to pre game at a place everyone called “the new wine bar”. That wasn’t the name of course, and I asked why it’s called that. That’s because we used to go to a place by the Spanish steps we called “the wine bar”, so we call this place the new wine bar.

In Frankfurt, the best Chicken schnitzel I’ve had over there, was at a place everyone called Horst. Again, that wasn’t the real name, that was the name of the owner or chef, so everyone called it that. My comment, while not helpful, didn’t really make me an idiot.

Happy Thanksgiving.
