Negative, deadhead does not count towards the fdp. Ask me how I know this. 4am shortcall start, 1pm flight, second leg a deadhead, 18 hour day from the 4am start. Under this rule, they could deadhead you right at the end according to alpa guy. Frankly I was sort of shocked/****ed that we don’t have PWA protection from this.

Hmm......well that sucks. Another FAR 117 surprise. Kinda like getting 3 5-day domestic trips back to back. Ask me how I know that can happen. I'm sure glad they used science to figure out those rules. Not sure what kind of science, but at least it was science.

Here's another gem that made me wonder.

DH on red-eye SLC-MCO. Sit 90 minutes. Operate flight to JFK. All legal because of the DH. That is more of a contractual gem, but still a pile of crap. It was a GS so I did it with a smile, but that JFK flight was a tough one even all hopped up on Red Bull and Cappuccinos. Would have went to a SC guy had they had one......no thanks.

I got Released almost 5 hours early once. I didn’t ask a lot of questions, just turned the phone off and left.

That’s nice. And thanks. Most crews I went there with did call it the free wine place. In Rome, we used to pre game at a place everyone called “the new wine bar”. That wasn’t the name of course, and I asked why it’s called that. That’s because we used to go to a place by the Spanish steps we called “the wine bar”, so we call this place the new wine bar.

In Frankfurt, the best Chicken schnitzel I’ve had over there, was at a place everyone called Horst. Again, that wasn’t the real name, that was the name of the owner or chef, so everyone called it that. My comment, while not helpful, didn’t really make me an idiot.

Happy Thanksgiving.

The only DH that doesn't count towards duty is the last leg of the rotation.

If is somewhere else on the trip it counts towards duty.

Duty Period Ending in a Deadhead Flight Segment a. A duty period that contains an FDP and ends in a deadhead flight segment will be scheduled to be at least 30 minutes less than the pilot's applicable FDP limit under Section 12 D. 1. – 3. from report to block-in of the last deadhead flight segment. A pilot will not be rerouted or required to depart from the gate on a deadhead flight segment that is scheduled to block in more than one hour beyond such limit.

To you financial geniuses out there, well I know we're all Pilots so we're all Financial Geniuses but really..... it's shaping up to be the same profit sharing check this February as we got last February?

Percentage wise it will be less. I am guessing 13.5 to 14%. Dollar wise probably just slightly less.

That’s correct sailing but the fdp starts at the report time of the flight, not the start of shortcall. Which is what we are talking about. The question is wether being on shortcall is arduous enough to warrant tacking on a time limit to the rest of the day? These waves ain’t gonna surf themselves bra

Not quite:

For an unaugmented operation, the total number of hours a fightcrew member may spend in a fight duty period and a RAP may not exceed the lesser of the FDP from Table B plus 4 hours, or 16 hours, as measured from the beginning of the RAP.
