So the Forbes article is from an acknowledged long time critic of Delta's refinery purchase. "Well this ought to be fair and balanced"...I think to myself. So I add up the stated losses $303 Million, add back the profits of $387 million....hmmm...whether I use "new " math or old math, it still seems to be a profit of almost $85 Million ....of course they haven't reported the 2017 results.....so the profit/loss could vary but I feel no matter how it shakes out it will be less significant than a hair on a pimple. So, pilots term the Trainer purchase a "blunder", debacle" of whatever.....same ol same ol
Since it is less than a compelling performance one way or the other, I applaud them on at least trying(I feel there are some tax write-offs that may have also helped). I put it in the same realm as starting service to destinations...Havana comes to mind...leaping into the foray and then later modifying, curtailing, or expanding the service. "And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake I shake it off, I shake it off https://youtu.be/nfWlot6h_JM?list=RDnfWlot6h_JM&t=100 What seems odd is pilots and pilots on this forum in general attack Delta management on everything they do. Look at tha abuse heaped on the various methods they used to improve ontime performance which has been a resounding success verses the praise for the refinery that has been unsuccessful. It has however been great for UAL in Newark and other large NY airlines. Not so great for Delta. |

I think we're in our little bubble of traveling only on Delta and focusing on the issues while not realizing how it is for the pax. The company is doing a really good job of running the airline and keeping us all focused in the right direction. |

Can you post a link or reference the name of the thread and page number? Thanks
Some guy does a post every week called OAG guide which shows filings airlines make for routes. It’s actually pretty cool to follow to keep yourself informed |

If you go to the forums on airliners.net

The union puts out excellent scope summaries. They are rarely posted here because they often conflict with what some posters want to project. A simple example would be all the posts on Aeromexico. I just flew with a pilot who assured me not only had we not added any Mexico flying but were reducing rapidly. He got that info from APC. Here is the most recent update from the union.
Our JV with Aeroméxico recently turned one year old. What has that first year looked like? There has been a tremendous increase in DAL-coded passengers flying on AM metal and a similar increase of AM- coded passengers on DAL aircraft. We asked ALPA National Economic & Financial Analysis to take a look at the growth in year one, and the results show an equitable distribution of the growth in the first year of the JV. By seats, seat-miles, frequencies and block hours, the Delta share of growth across the border was greater than 50%. |

https://aeromexico.com/cms/sites/def...ll_Version.pdf And from 7/6/2017, the jump was in the precedent year for scope. International capacity jumps 17% at Aeromexico • Aeromexico (OTCPK:GRPAF) announces revenue per kilometers increased 14.2% to 3.400B in June. International RPKs were up 17.0%, while domestic RPKs increased 8.5%. • Capacity increased 14.6% during the month to 4.119B available seat kilometers. • Passenger traffic was up 6.3% to 1.764M. • June load factor -30 bps to 82.5%. • YTD load factor +220 bps to 80.1%. |

Spoke with our Scope Chairman and Captain Rep Elect a week ago on this topic and there was brief mention of the LATAM network in Jim Graham's crewroom brief today. All reports correlate with what Sailing quoted and is frankly, good news, for Delta pilots. We are taking market from American Airlines. |

Further info which is a bit dated but from March is block hours between us and Aeromexico. We are flying around 322,000 with AM at 140,000. The letter dated 6/26 also discusses the large increase in passengers on both airlines transborder routes. That provides additional domestic flying for Delta pilots via increased feed. Keep in mind the numbers you post are all AM’s international flying not JV flying transborder. |
