Any contract warriors know what recourse one has when a pot-swap request is awarded to a junior pilot in category? Had my request in, and had a deny reason stating that the rotation was not in open time although it was awarded to someone junior 2 hours after my request was put in... Thanks for any help!

Good luck

Had that happen before and ALPA scheduling basically said "tough luck". Apparently when they run pcs the reserve grid changes with each transaction. So in your case it could have dropped below coverage for your attempted swap and then moved on, if it works for someone else later it won't loop back and look at your request again it will just award to the first legal one it can. This needs to be addressed in C2019 among other things.

Was the trip in open time before the PCS? Was the trip picked up with a white slip or a swap? If you had a swap in and it was picked up by a white slip, this would be correct as drops and WS are processed before swaps. Also, if it wasnt in open time before the PCS and you had a swap in, it very well could have been dropped by someone junior to you but senior to the awardee. This is one of the few times our seniority is abrogated because the PCS could very well just get stuck in a never ending loop.

If it's neither of these, then call scheduling and if they dont give you a satisfactory answer (talk to supervisor as well) then call ALPA.

Guys already freak out when the PCS takes more than an hour. If the PCS had to loop back for every single trade, a PCS might not even finish before the next one is scheduled to start. I guess it depends on how much $$$/negotiating capital we want to spend on this. Personally, the one or two times I've been impacted by this isn't worth any negotiating capital.

You can view the history of the rotation in the open time menu. If the trip was incorrectly awarded you will be paid for it. You left out a lot of useful information. Was the trip a Q trip? Was it in open time before the window it was awarded in. Did you check to make sure you were legal with the rules auditor? Did the junior pilot get the trip on a swap or WS?

Thanks for the answer guys- the trip was awarded to a junior pilot on a pot swap 1.5 hrs after my request was submitted. It was in open time and not a Q trip. No conflicting min reserve days. I’ll give CS a call this morning and see what they say...... thx

They are probably thinking the part shortage issue solved itself.

Old post but the last F22 at Tyndall was repaired and flown out. None had more than minor damage.

I would be interested in hearing their response, if you wouldn't mind posting it.

It’s almost always one of two things. 100 and 678 issue or 30 hours rest in 7 days. Sadly you only see the last denial reason when you check in DBMS. Since it loops through twice the real reason does not display from the first loop. I only have had once where the automated swap system was wrong and it was because scheduling built the rotation wrong so it had a FAR error and the swap system would not award it.
