How can a website track you on your laptop?

Google has no problem. I get a travellog monthly, including international.

when you log into the site...unless it's more advanced than i know. An app on your phone can track you 24/7 though.

I don't even care about ALPA's position on this, although I believe it to be well founded. I have two main issues with using this: First, I think it opens up pilots (and others, but I'm concerned here with us) to the pitfalls of modern social media, with a particularly focused work hazard. People can say things that get taken out of context, or trolled to say things out of anger. Once it's out there, it's out there, and your name's on it. Most people seem to get that, but some don't.

Secondly, and what I'm really most concerned about, is that Facebook is a data engineering company. We are the product. It's not just your name, position and base they can see. If you're logged in on your web browser for example, it can collect data about everything you do, when you do it, and where you've done it from. Facebook collects web browsing data from other websites you visit, off of Facebook. This is what you agree to when you click "I Agree".

You bring up the health issue, Facebook can see what health issues you're searching for on the internet, what websites you searched, the time of day or night you searched, and from where you searched. They also have access to any apps you use. That's what they do. I'm not comfortable sharing that data with my employer, and neither should anyone else be. We need some clarification on this before it's used. Until then, i'd be sure to log off before galavanting around the web. And I wouldn't use the app.

Almost every WiFi hotspot (including your house) has a location associated with it. Google, FB, etc know where you are within 300 feet, just by the fact you are connected to a known WiFi location. Furthermore if you leave WiFi turned on, you don't even have to connect to a hotspot to provide location data. The fact that your device saw the hotspot creates a breadcrumb trail of time and location.

I'm not wearing a tinfoil hat in my underground bunker while typing this, I do however have a decade of experience in the computer industry, most of it within product development. Trust me, The Google knows as does Facebook and any other app you have.

Another point to ponder WRT Facebook, Google, etc. It the service is free, you are the product, not the customer....

Conspiracy, huh. No, I'd call it more like Personnel Management, circa 2018. Mandatory Enrollment. I read every day about people fired for things they post on the internet, including DL employees! If you read the terms, you must comply with the DL Rules of the Road and The Way We Fly, and if you read those, as I did, you can see that penalties for not complying with them can include punishment up to and including termination. Buyer beware.

You mean I have to be respectful to my fellow employees on a company social media platform?!?!

If that is a great burden, you can practice here on APC until reaching proficiency. ;)

You mean iOS 12.1? Don’t think it was rescinded. Might take a while for the availability of the update to propagate out to all of the devices after they flipped the switch. Feel free to PM me if it’s still not showing up tomorrow, I’ll try to help.

Thanks, that is what I meant. I saw 11.4.1 and for some reason my brain interpreted 14.1 (you probably don't want me to be your PM...) I tried restarting the ipad and still not available. I've owned an iphone for years so I'm familiar with all the standard methods of finding and installing an update. 12.1 still not available for me.

No problem, here to help. Good luck.

I'm guessing the "tinder on layovers" group being active will be a problem. This could be very ugly and very entertaining. But seriously, just another distraction. We can company Facebook but not have our electronic devices on at the gate sitting in the cockpit? Whats next the PFD ACARS version?

Do anybody have a current(ish) list of the junior line numbers at each base/seat/type?
