Anyhoo,

4 day GS. Day 4 is DH only. Besides per diem, is there any financial penalty in deviating on day 3?

I was on a 3-day GS in March 2020. The day 3 leg was a DH back to base. I went home on day 2 with no penalty to GS pay.
I’ve also flown what was supposed to be a 2-day GS (work SEA-ATL day 1, short hotel stay, DH day 2). I went home on day one with no penalty...except per diem.

Nope.

You'll still get paid for Day 4. If you're reserve you'll also get the extra PB day, and maybe another depending on when you block in.

It will be interesting to see how the cargo industry looks in 10 years with the return of belly freight and the coming Amazon onslaught.
P.S. Fred is not a friend of pilots and absolutely hates unions!

I remember pre covid browsing FedEx forum and seeing “what will happen with Amazon?” “Is there a future?” Etc. We always want what we can’t have, and secondly those who are so miserable at one place would 100% be miserable about something else at their golden unicorn company. Whiners will always whine, it’s like the joke about the difference between a pilot and a jet engine...

Negative...that's the game! I did that very thing on a GS last week, except I deviated DH on day 1 and drove into work on day 2 (I happen to have lived close enough to the overnight).

Tanks all.

Don’t have my iPad with me. If you have a carry out trip that is changed - went from a 4-day to a 1-day - are you pay protected for the current month? I know you’re SOL for the carry-out, just not sure about the current month. Thanks

You are pay protected for the flying in the current month.

But they haven't.

Now giving the new reality of "safetyism" we are going to continue to struggle with whatever disease x,y,z has in store for us down the road. Didn't the CDC just say today that herd immunity is impossible now?

Funny you don't mention the little trips thru bankruptcy, merger, and all the other pitfalls that have plagued this pilot group since like the late 90's. FedEx been pretty stable over that timeline.

Has Fred ever out right lied to his pilots?

I should have gone with my gut, but I didn't. I'm stuck here now and will attempt to make the best of a crappy situation. Let me guess sailing, you are ATL based?

Nobody is ever stuck. I’ve seen guys with 8-10 years at a major up roots. I’m not cheering you out, but if you have decades left, is it worth misery?

they didn’t say it’s inherently impossible, it’s unlikely because Americans are resistant to vaccination.

You’re not stuck. Go apply.

or bid a line instead of reserve.

or recognize that hard times happen and that this isn’t even that bad of a situation.
