How many years does the most junior FO have on the long haul international planes? Not necessarily holding a line but on the plane. Pre covid numbers or post covid guesses is fine too, just trying to get some sense of how senior the long haul planes go

767ER will go to new hires however it does limited amounts of long haul base dependent. The 330 is probably under 2 years in the fall and there are rumors of new hires but that’s happened before and never materialized.

Junior pilot in a pure widebody category is ~11800 out of ~12600.

2 years seems short. The current plug on the 330 is a 2015 hire, and the projected plug from the last round of AEs is a 2017 hire.

I’d be really surprised if the 330 ever went below 4 years, but who knows. I certainly hope it does go down to 2 years, because I know where I’d be going!

A few years ago I was awarded 330B at just over 2 years. Some of my indoc classmates got it in NYC about 6 months ahead of me.

Dang, that’s awesome. I’ll be keeping my eyes open for that.

I think if you look at NYC765 that the plug from the latest AE is a spring(ish?) 2019 hire. I don't recall if it was Jan, Feb, or Mar, but the bottom of that list will be early 2019 hire dates.

NYC765 has consistently been the most Junior WB category in recent history. About 4-5 years ago, it went down to about 2 years on property by time of conversion, while the next-most Junior was NYC330 at about 4+ years, I think. When the 765 started doing permanent west coast 2-day uncommutable trips, the really Junior flood gates opened and have stayed open. When International comes back to normal, Network’s usage/plan will drive that more Senior again if it more or less stops domestic altogether (commutability would go to 100%)…

FWIW, this last AE was an aberration (in a lot of places), I wouldn’t take any trends from that going forward.

Straight line projections and myopic snapshots are true fools' gold. The specifics of how any one fleet will look in six months or a year, or how pilots will bid is only knowable once pilots have submitted final preferences and the bids have been processed. All other predictions are pure speculation, some good and some bad. The real skill, far more important than sharpshooting any monthly or AE bid, is being realistic in one's expectations and flexible about suitable options and courses of action. Otherwise, grossly overinflated hopes and expectations will always outstrip reality to the point of catastrophe. I forgot, we're talking about pilots, so . . . . nevermind.
